I know that it happens, and too often for most of us, but this is a sucker-punch of the first order.

they could have reused half that stuff, i mean they even tossed out the wheeled cart it rides on.

A few questions arise. They know that the value of this among fans would be higher than the base materials, so why not auction it off, or even better, donate it to a charitable cause. Can't Stop the Serenity springs to mind.

Same thing happened to the shuttle craft and refueling station from Star Trek 2009. Talking to the set director he had mentioned that the shuttle would probably be used in the next movie but seeing as pieces are showing up from various folks (myself included) guess that wasn't the case.

it hurts to look at that
as said, surely they could make money by selling it to fans, you know how greedy holywood can be

Even if they did and it's in a land fill ( which it look's like it is ) the employees may not let them salvage it.

I think the studios are just morons who don't want to bother with it or don't want the fans to have anything.

I read over at Fireflyfans that three were three of these made. I'm pretty sure that this is NOT the one that sat next to the DeLorean at Universal. I have a couple pics of me in that vehicle and the wear patterns on the front end do NOT match the shot from the landfill.

This may be one of the other two units. Still sucks to see it scrapped though.

If this thing hasn't been salvaged at this point I'm sure myself and the rest of the starcarcentral.com movie car collectors could get it out of the landfill assuming that someone wants to take it off my hands or a museum is ready to display it once I tow it out of the landfill and store it temporarily in my RV spot. I liked the film and show, but not enough to keep the shuttle as permanent lawn art.

My group has rescued several movie cars before - the spaceship wouldn't be too different. Looks like it fits in the back of a pickup truck so I could move it as early as next weekend. Anyone with a location and terms, step up to the plate.

Woah, wait a minute. If that's in CA, did Universal just decide to clean out the backlot!? :( sad nevertheless.
