Scratching a Smart Disc

This project is turning out to be very tedious...
Dremeled some more sheets, and the disc is starting to get it's shape... I still have a lot of sheets to finish.

After that is sanded out thats going to look amazing.

THAT.... is alot of work. ;p Looks sweet tho. Can`t wait to see this one done.

I have been dremeling sheets like a potato peeler (?) ... Not tooo many left (will post some pix soon) but have run into some trouble on the underside of the disc. We have recieved an upgrade to our 3D programs at work, so I decided to sort this out in 3D space... Helps a LOT. Turns out my bottom finger nibs are too short and I would have sanded the holes away. Thought I would share some renders though...

So the other half is now also finished and I'm trying to locate my bed with a broom. Next step will be the motor components and after that the sanding.

I canabalised a brass motor part from an old floppy drive and added some aluminum tubing, which seems to work very well.
This will attach to a ring with holes drilled around it. I am progressing with the idea for a more mechanical (metal) disc where possible. ALSO, i have started the daunting task of sanding the disc halves...
