Scratchbuilt 1:350 USS Reliant

Re: WIP 1:350 USS Reliant I'm building for a friend

Wow, thanks gents!

Brett, if we can make this work we might be able to combine masks with conversion kits! I'm sure you'd be able to come up with SOME sort of mask kit!;)

Rob, thanks for the help and kind words, BTW, i managed to snag a 1:350 refit this morning for 65 quid, so i won't have to borrow yours after all, but seriously, many thanks for the offer!!!

I may need lots of advice on how to craft parts(like Reliant's nacelle pylons) which need to be hollow in the middle to allow wiring....

This project will probably take quite a while to get going, but i'm determined it WILL happen!

Onwards and upwards me hearties!

GREAT really looking forward to this are you starting a new thread ?

Re: WIP 1:350 USS Reliant I'm building for a friend

I will do eventually, and of course when there's something to see!

Lots of stuff on the plate at the moment. Also don't have a clue about molding...lol.

Like others have said, great work encourages positive comments, and this is truly great stuff, I have a PL refit unbuilt here as well and so if for any reason you need other parts just shoot me a PM :thumbsup

Re: WIP 1:350 USS Reliant I'm building for a friend

That is awesome. I'll mirror what others have said. I'd be interested in a conversion kit. I don't have room for a full sized Constitution 1/350, but I'd MAKE room for a 1/350 Miranda class!

Hey Rich!

I'm glad to see you've made that much more progress on this awe-inspiring build since earlier this year. I was hoping it hadn't been stalled for any reason.

As before, I'm amazed at the awesomeness of this build, and for someone who claims to have next to no experience with this sort of thing. The level of talent shown in this thread sure could've fooled me! lol

FYI, I have two junked 1/350 PL Refit E's sitting here collecting dust (they're junked in such a way they can't be put together the way they're supposed to be). Since I have no use for them, if you have any parts missing or need replacing let me know ;)

I'm super excited to see this project is still going forward. Looking forward to more, dude!

Eric, that's amazingly kind of you! And i always need spare parts!!! Lol!

Thanks for the kind words too! I'll reiterate, i'm not a modelling guru i just make it up as i go....heck, today i had to do some surgery to the top part of the spine section as it just wasn't right and didn't fit....sigh....ho hum....still looks better now!

Oh, I know that, it's just the level of talent shown here and the quality of the build make it hard to believe, lol.

Believe it or not the fact of the matter is, even for those of us who have been in the hobby a while and do this sort of thing regularly, there's still a lot of trial and error involved.

Speaking for myself, considering I'm such an anal-retentive stickler for detail and accuracy I often have to go back to tweak things on my own builds :p

Like I said, give me a shout if you need any additional parts when you get around to making the conversion kit. I'd be happy to send them your way to help out. I know I won't be using them.

Btw, I forgot to mention I'd definitely be in for one of those, too :D

Re: WIP 1:350 USS Reliant I'm building for a friend

I have been eyeballing this awesome build for weeks now. I am planning a. 1/350 reliant build coming up in march and was wondering if you still have have those card patterns? They would really help my build! This is some awesome work man!!!

Love the simple lighting in your pics. Makes the detail really pop. Gorgeous work.
