Re: roto-cast resin and latex

Thanks man. I'm going back to basics. I attempted a silicone mold at the weekend and everything seemed to go well. But the mold was too floppy in the mother mold and wouldn't sit properly. Possibly didn't use enough coats of silicone.

You need min 3/8" build for the silicone to hold it's shape proper.

Re: roto-cast resin and latex

I've never had urethane work out of a latex mold, unless it had so much release/sealer, it wasn't worth casting because the detail got covered up- I always stick to silicone (ha!).

Noob Iron Man

hi folks

Although this type of model may be old hat now i enclose my humble contribution to this great site. The reason for this is i feel that newcomers on these sites are sometimes intimidated to ask questions etc. I started this project about 4 months ago using about 80 per cent information from RPF. I didnt know what oil clay, pepakura, bondo, aqua resin or any of these things were. Using this information i am going to continue this project onto a full size model in the high school where i work. Its turned out pretty decent so far although i have work to do. So i would encourage people to ask questions and dont worry about whether someone covered the same subject about 6 months ago etc. So thanks to the people who helped me out and hopefully they will continue to put up with my silly questions!!

cheers

Scotty

Re: Noob Iron Man

i sallute u! now there is a proper website member :) i am constantly annoyed that people just keep saying about how a question was answered a million times. if a guy doesnt know he deserves a proper answer! :D

nice model, its a bit out of proportion but much better than aything i would have created ;)
