I have to agree. That is some very well done sandy weathering you have on that. I've just started trimming out my TE and going the Sandtrooper route as well, can you let us know what materials and methods you used?

Thanks.

Great weathering!! Did you use acrylics or the woodland scenics/hairspray method? You really have the whole thing nailed down!

What a filthy uniform! Report to the barracks at once and get cleaned up. You're a disgrace to the Empire. :unsure

Just kidding, looks fantastic. :)

That looks amazing Chazz!!!! Man I can't wait to get started on my sandy. Soon....

I would love to hear more about that weathering. It looks fantastic.

For the weathering i used Acrylic paints you find at wal-mart :thumbsup I know alot of guys on the MEPD use fullers earth, But i kind of like the way the acrylics came out also there is no need to hair spray over your work. It drys well and stays on Unless you wipe it down with warm water. I also applied them with sponge brushes.
Here are the colors used. If anyone needs a tutorial on how i did it feel free to PM me or ask questions =)

yet another sandtrooper, i love it ..... the more the merrier....excellent job on the weathering

Chazz,

Are you concerned about rain and your paint? I'm not sure how well the paint adheres to the plastic, so it may be a non issue. Would a thin top coat take any risk of loosing any weathering in rain away?

Also can you list the colors and possibly a quick tutorial? I’ve got my TD bucket, so perhaps I will start to put that together (If I can figure out how to make a FX Stunt helmet) and weather it while I wait on the rest of the armor.

Thanks man.

Thanks man.

It would have to be one hell of a rain fall to get the paint to wash away:lol
scrubbing the paint off with a wet rag is the only way it will come off.

excellent news. I wasn't sure how well it stuck to the plastic. I have painted in acrylics, so I do know they can be easily washed with warm water (particularly light shades) and or scratched off. I would hate for that sweet weathering to be damaged (if weathering can be damaged... :))
