Sandbagger's Iron-Man builds - Now in STEEL

Thanks to all!

Little update" My shiny red leather undergloves have been custome tailored by a seamstress in Sydney and are now done. I am still waiting for some stencils so I can acid-etch a big knife I am making for her as a barter for her professional skills. Can't wait to see them!

Here it is nearly finished. Just the etching on the blade to go and a quick dressing up of the handle.

Plenty of room. Once the padding goes in it will sit up higher on my head, bringing the chin in line with mine.

Room in the chin for electronics.

Snug fit. No bobble-heads.

All the edging welded in now. Just a bit more clean-up to get all the seams to match up again. This view shows the bottom section closed behind the back of the head.

with each new photo I just keep hearing Ozie's "I Am Iron Man"

Any updates? hope it did not rust to much if untouched...

I've got it stored in a nice dry room so there's been no flash rusting. I've been flat out making knives to barter for all the help others have given me on this and other projects. I have nine more knives to make than I will be back into the suit. I might get to spend a little time on it next weekend.

I WILL finish it, never fear.

Things have turned in a new direction for my original plans for the hands, the most difficult part of the entire Iron man suit. The leather option didn't turn out as I had hoped.

I am now going to cast my own hands, sculpt a layer of clay over the top, pour another mold over the sculpt then slush cast latex undergloves. Here's my two makeshift mold boxes.

Right hand molds complete, left hand half done. Need more plaster to cast the positives.

Sandbagger you make this site worth looking at. Love your skills.

Do you know if anyone has made a suit/helmet out of carbon fiber?

When I stop pounding metal for a different project, I have this crazy idea about aluminum tubing for iron man fingers. Squeezing portions flat for each section of finger and otherwise keeping the curve that is already there.fingeridea.jpg
