Because that area protrudes from from the blade holder and the other sleeve ends right at the blade holder so the blade could be as close to the hilt opening as possible for rigidity

To clarify further, the blade version is based on the season 2 Prop, where we see the button light up and the blade starts flush with the shroud. (As seen on TV)

The plug version is based on the original Paul Ozzimo render. In that version the emitter sticks out of the shroud and has the details. So thats why you get both versions in this kit.

We got back home from South Africa last night after 28 hours of travel
