LOL all good. Thanks for the clarification. But while we're up to clarifying...is the color scheme similar, but opposite? looking at the gloved hand pommel pic above, the stripes are alternating...
Actually, what is the finish on the hilt going to be?

protos on there way to us now. we are still weight the options on how to get the finish we desire for the main body, but i asked the factory to send what they have now so we can start finalizing the chassis and blade connectors

Protos came in!!!
They look great! BUT, and this is why we prototype instead of just rushing it to market, we found some tolerances that can be better tuned for a more secure fit of parts.

the Disney parks ones you have been seeing around are plastic, which is how they got the 2 colors of the black handle and the grey raised grips, after going back and forth we decided that in order to have the correct shape grips would be molded rubber.
Others have decided to machine the raised areas with a 4 axis machine but it does not maintain the chamfer and shape to the raised areas, but molded rubber grips can maintain that and be colored the dark grey we need it to be.
It could be machined with a 5 axis machine then a jig made to cover the recessed areas to coat the raised areas dark grey but that process would more then double the cost of the whole unit.
In a few areas the rubber lifted and it seems not much glue was added so we will work on that with the factory.
This thing feels great in hand
we still don’t have an ETA as good is not fast but we will keep everyone updated.

we just have to see what the factory will say to our changes in tolerances and adjustments to screw sizes and holes

if you do molded rubber, would that make it possible to hide the top screw by the switch? like maybe a rubber that you push over so you can unscrew, but when you dont need to , its hidden?

Looks great. Would the rubber last, because over time it usually goes brittle and whatnot esp with the accumulation of sweat and oils.

Not my intent to derail or start a panic, but a little concerned on the choice of rubber for the grip section. I understand the reasoning, cost/time/etc., but as has been mentioned there are some inherent issue using rubber; outside of the eventual breakdown, there's also the "play" factor (I didn't sign up for a prop that needs to sit on a shelf for fear of getting oil from my hands on it) and the QA factor. Undoubtedly there will be some pieces that will be misaligned, etc,. when the rubber is adhered to the body. So having said that, is rubber the right choice or is there a silicone alternative, or other options?

It looks like they used the same types of rubber that does not degrade like what you may be thinking of, the same kind used in the thousands of 89 sabers hilts that are now currently in the market for years that we offer in our shop.
We have not had any complaints about that material.
We will check with the shop and clarify the exact compound.
