Limited Run RUN CLOSED * DL-44 ESB Blaster Machined Parts Set * RUN CLOSED

I took this ESB - Bespin screen shot of Luke and his stunt blaster looks like a Han ROTJ version. Funny! I never noticed this before.

now that's a great find! Good eyes. The Screen Shot confirms Solos Blaster's suspicion, that Luke was carring the Muppet Blaster on Bespin.

I have another one here:
When R2 ist attacked by the dragonsnake on Dagobah, Luke draws his DL-44. In the close up, it looks like the firing prop. In the next scene, Luke is running to the closest bank and nearly strumbles.

Here you can see, that Luke is holding a different blaster with a higher mounted scope and the bull barrel: the Muppet Blaster.

Great screen grabs enaswede.

I got my parts in last Friday but I haven't been home more than a couple hours since then and I'm about to go out of town again for a week. I finally get the parts and now I'm not home to play with them, figures.

I have had some emails about my painting process

Here is what I do

The first step is to disassemble the mauser and wet sand it with alcohol and a worn out sanding pad

By disassemble I mean remove the upper, and remove the bolt for the upper so that you do not get aluminum black or paint on the extractor area.

I remove the grips from the lower but other then that it can be left in tact.

Then I apply aluminum black to the entire mauser and once it is dry I wipe it down.

I paint the mauser disassembled to make sure I get everything, I use tape on the extractor face to keep the over spray off of it

After that I use Rustolium High Heat Ultra BLACK as a base coat for the entire mauser. I do this prior to attaching any greeblies

To cure the paint I use a heat gun and I I get the mauser pretty hot

Once it has cooled down I reassemble the mauser and attach the greeblies

To attach the larger greeblies I remove about 50% of the surface under where they willmount and then I attach them with super glue gel

Small greeblies will normally attach to the paint with out the need to bare the metal and I use slow setting super glue liquid.

Then I use the BLACK paint sparingly and just a light amount of heat to cure it.

To remove the gloss of the BLACK color I use Rustolium High Heat Ultra BBQ BLACK.

I use a "misting" process and apply it very conservatively until the proper sheen s achieved.

Once that is done I weather the blaster

The final step is a light dusting of any clear dull top coat.

That's immensely helpful. I'll keep this in mind for future painting projects that involve metal as well.

very very helpful!! i was just going to ask what people are doing for paint, thanks for clearing this up!

Make sure to avoid plain Rustoleum satin clear coat! clear dustings will feel like sand paper.

I used flat clear on my Obi Wan grenade and Booster (I know, strike me down) but it stopped any rust and corrosion and anyone and their baby can handle the parts now!

Good eye! It looks like they used the muppet blaster whenever there was a good chance it would get dropped in a pool of disgusting water.

that being said, without the right light, that could still be the "stunt" hoth blaster

Honestly, I think it was used as the "go to" stunt blaster for the movie. Seeing some of those screen shots and other "Did I see what I thought I saw?" moments, I'm pretty sure the scope mount was broken shooting stunts on Bespin and that's why it was screwed back together and is in its present state.

What I'd like to know is how they came up with such a dramatic change in the scope mount for the same movie. I honestly, wonder if one of the heroes or an "original" stunt was lost while filming in Norway and that's why Luke is missing his blaster just before Obi-Wan appears....

Good eye! Never noticed that!

i have a feeling the blaster they started with had ANH mounting holes as well as the bull barrel and flash hider. How else would you take a right angle bracket, cut it up, and make sure it reaches the front and rear of the gun? :lol

guys, look at this ! ! !

The ANH Hero IS the Muppet Blaster! The gun number is matching. The Muppet also has the mystery disk under the upper piston. And I am pretty sure, by comparing the welded-on mount screws on both blasters, you will get the same angle. (I couldn't find a usable picture of the Muppet Blaster to do this comparison)

ANH - Muppet number.jpg mystery disk Muppet Blaster.jpg

So could this be a new theory? The Muppet Blaster as Luke's HERO live firing blaster?

edit:
If this HERO blaster really got lost, I will be the first to start an expedition to Norway to discover it. LOL

I think its a resin cast of the original hero gun which is modified. I think the trigger is moulded in. Nice to know which one was as a master for moulding the stunt versions.

It's been known for a while that the muppet blaster is a resin casting of Han's Hero blaster from ANH. The real mauser was most likely returned to Bapty after filming ANH. The muppet blaster is, very positively, not the same gun. Luke's live fire has an M19 just like Han's

I'm not in this theory anymore. Solos Blaster made a point: there is no reason for making a stunt blaster that differs so much from the hero versions. And thd9791 already stated out, that the mounting points are exactly the same.

If you take a closer look on the ANH blaster mounting plate, you will notice, that the angle is a little off and not perfectly horizontal. This is due to the fact, that the welded-on mounting screws are not on the same level. Exactly like it can be seen on the Muppet Blaster. Now the Muppet scope mount not part of the casting process. So why would the prop makers put it onto the Muppet Blaster in the same dislocation? Especially if it is resin, a much easier material to work with.

Sorry, I missed that. Nevertheless it's a M19 telescope on the Muppet Blaster as well.

Shipping paid! Now after Halloween (or if I finish a friend's commission early), I can finally finish my ESB Holster.

Just paid too :) Really happy with BD's help, it was a tricky and long list of parts !

Now to summon up just a bit more patience.. while its shipping :)

Elon Musk should start a delivery service .. "anywhere in the world in 40 mins" I think he said in his 'Mars' lecture ;)

I know that I am late to the party but is Bobba Debt going to make another ESB run soon or a source for some good ESB parts. I am in the process of building a ANH DL-44. I have been waiting for the last part for it for a while. While twiddling my fingers in anticipation of completion I have been looking at an ESB DL-44 build. I think I have caught the bug now! I found some good looking stuff on ebay by Evolution Props. Does anyone have any experience with their stuff or have any suggestions in general? Thanks

It's beautiful! I don't know if I'll have the patience to build it, since I can't put it down! Thanks for everyone's hard work! What's a good quality spray paint? I like the aluminum black idea. IMG_4156.JPG

Evolution is ok... but Boba Debts is the best so far.
