Limited Run RUN CLOSED * DL-44 ESB Blaster Machined Parts Set * RUN CLOSED

Re: DL-44 ESB Blaster Active Project Machined Parts Set $100

Thanks all. I'm going to get a few scopes sent out to Boba for his test machining in the next day or two. I checked over my new waxes and they look really good, so I'm hoping we'll have an even better run for the second batch.

Re: DL-44 ESB Blaster Active Project Machined Parts Set $100

Will any resin piston half's be available along with the MOTOR/COIL and other greeblies? In my mind resin is just closer to the original kit parts than bronze.

The scopes look promising, can't wait to see a machined example. Will any cleanup be done to the three screws that hold on the eyepiece plate on the 'front'? that detail seems to be completely lost. They could be drilled out for real screws.

Re: DL-44 ESB Blaster Active Project Machined Parts Set $100

Great work! I have a feeling I'll be in for at least two scopes!

Re: DL-44 ESB Blaster Active Project Machined Parts Set $100

Nothing should be 'perfect' in a galaxy far, far away anyhow.

Looking good!

thats exactly what i was going to say, the scopes look awesome! this is star wars, nothing looks perfect and thats what i love about it!!

Re: DL-44 ESB Blaster Active Project Machined Parts Set $100

Your thoughts don't sound harsh. I'm not looking for sugar coating. I feel like these can be better. Some of the defects (ones I haven't pictured) were a result of either bad waxes (bubbles) or careless removal from the investment. I think most people still want bronze even if it means some cleanup. These are on the worse end of what I expect from future casts. My first batch of wax wasn't the greatest. I've got several new waxes made from a fresh batch of wax and these are coming out a lot better. BUT they will still have some imperfections. If that is an issue for you, I understand. Having them fix the imperfections at the foundry will easily cost double what the castings at the foundry costs. Right now we're looking at $70 per scope, $25 per set of pistons.

The good pistons are quite good and the new ones coming out of my molds are way better than the first ones. I expect nobody will getting pistons that look like the worst ones in the pics I posted above. I just wanted you all to see what I'm dealing with. I have to eat the costs of the cast offs. If anyone is willing to accept a rough piece with the understanding that they'll want to clean it up, I may sell them at a reduced cost just to reduce my overhead.

I might be interested in any scrap, although you may already sell back to the foundry. Near me we have a lot of "drop off" metal recyclers and no "pick up" facilities, so I don't have a local source of bronze scrap. I thought there might be a way to help reduce at least part of your prototyping cost. Let me know.

The pictures you have posted so far are actually quite awesome! Keep up the good work!

God the still look great! Other than the screws on the front plate, I had no idea these were problematic lol it's been said, star wars is a junky universe

The screws on the front plate look like that on a real scope. They seal over the screw head and it always has that crappy filled in look.

Re: DL-44 ESB Blaster Active Project Machined Parts Set $100

That's pretty neat, I'd never noticed that. Thanks!

Re: DL-44 ESB Blaster Active Project Machined Parts Set $100

just an FYI, here is what my vintage M19 looks like just for reference. I think the cast brass copies are looking great IMO! I'll be ordering at least 1 deluxe scope an 2 sets of scope bolts for sure

Could be in for a machined scope w/ hardware, pending price. I think those casts show tons of potential as well!

Re: DL-44 ESB Blaster Active Project Machined Parts Set $100

Scope and pistons pricing/ordering details

I have pricing and ordering details on both the scopes and the pistons.

M19 Scopes
These are going $75 each shipped to Bobadebt. He will do the basic machining of the scopes, which he will invoice you for. If you want the deluxe model with lenses rather than the solid cast bronze basic, that will be on top of the basic machining. He is still working out the machining costs for them as I have to send him a couple of scopes to get real numbers figured out. I supply the scopes for $75 each, he provides machining and shipping to you for whatever he figures it will cost.

Piston sets
The pistons are going to be $25 per set. They are cast in pairs of 2 for ease of machining and installation. They will also be sent to Bobadebt for machining. Same deal as above for machining costs vs. materials. $25 is for the raw piston set casts. Whatever he figures out it costs to machine and ship them to you will have to be settled with him.

Ordering
To reserve scopes or piston sets, please email me at dmeyer(at)thinkjedi(dot)com with the following information:

- # of scopes wanted
- # of piston sets wanted
- RPF ID

I will send you a paypal invoice. Once the invoice has been paid, you will have your scope/pistons reserved.

I will be sending Boba the scopes and pistons in 2-3 big shipments. Boba still needs to get the first couple of scopes from me to work with his machinist to get the actual machining costs. For this reason, I expect to ship the first big batch in about one month.

Cliffs Notes:

- raw scope castings cost $75
- raw piston castings cost $25
- email me with order and I'll generate invoice
- paid invoices get reservations for scopes/pistons
- pistons and scopes will be sent to Bobadebt for machining (either standard or deluxe). He will charge whatever it costs for machining/clean-up and shipping to you.

NOTE: Unfortunately, I can't offer discounts for multiple orders. The foundry charges me the same regardless if I bring in 5 or 50.

Order Email sent to Think Jedi for

x3 M19 Scopes
x1 set of V8 Pistons

thanks for doing this for us I've wanted some metal scopes for a long time

Also (& I know I may need to post this in the discussion thread) but am I correct in thinking that the Han Bespin Blaster doesn't have the piston halves on the left side?

when I built my first Han Bespin I put them on but then I think I was told that only the Hoth had them if I remember rightly

I can't find a picture easily that shows this either. This is the version I'm building, so I'd love to know for sure as well...

Someone correct me if I am wrong but isn't the Han Bespin Blaster also known as Luke/Han shared blaster? Therefore I believe that would mean resource images of Luke's blaster serve as reference for Han's Bespin blaster. So if all that is true... then yes, no piston halves.

Is that Luke's live fire blaster, just smooth on that side? Why are the Luke/Han Bespin mounts slightly different if they shared the prop?

Thanks for chiming in!

Re: DL-44 ESB Blaster Active Project Machined Parts Set $100

Again I know that I shouldn't clutter up the sales thread with detail chatter but I guess this may effect the parts people buy for a Han Bespin

Looking back I think I raised this in a previous ESB blaster thread & posted these pictures, they are ESB promo pics of Han & Luke both with their ESB blasters drawn

I may have clearer pictures at home (I pulled these from the other thread) but I can't see any Pistons on the Left side of Han's blaster & I think it's the Bespin

I'm pretty sure that Luke & Han's blasters had different scopes & slightly varied scope mounts & weathering

I actually like the Pistons on Han's blaster as it distinguishes it from Luke's but think I may need to leave them off my Bespin build this time
