Re: DL-44 ESB Blaster Active Project Machined Parts Set $100

ESB AP – Scope, Hardware – Shipping – Etc QUESTIONS

I have received several emails asking a variety of questions but mostly about shipping so I decided to email the group about it.

There are 2 more invoicing phases to this project. The BRASS PARTS (scope/pistons), which is next and the the resin parts/hardware/shipping which will be last.

During the BRASS PARTS phase you will order your rough parts directly from Think Jedi. By the time he has progressed into the casting phase I should know the exact costs to preform 2 different machining processes on the raw castings.

  • Initial Machining –
    • remove the remnants of the sprus on the scope
    • drill and tap the scope feet for the bolts
    • drill the side of the scope for the light socket
    • for this process at a minimum you will have to buy the machined scope bolts and a machined light socket
    • remove the remnants of the sprus on the pistons and drill the mount holes

  • Additional Deluxe Scope Machining -
    • counter bore and thread both ends for glass lenses
    • for this process at a minimum you will have to buy the machined lens rings and the glass lenses
I think the cost of the raw scope will be around $90 but there is no way I can estimate the cost of the machining because we are doing it differently from the last time I did this which was in 2004

The final phase is the when you will pay for the resin parts, hardware, labor services and shipping.

I have asked Vince (Corellian Exports) to provide the resin parts because his work is excellent and his prices are very reasonable.

Hardware cost will be minimal, I just can’t figure that part out until I have the parts on hand and know the total number of kits sold.

During the last phase I also invoice members for any labor services they select from the menu that I will provide. I will figure out a menu of economical services and you will have the option of selecting any or none of the the offered services.

Here is a list from the ROTJ Project:

ROTJ BLASTER SERVICES
  • Reverse the rear sight - FREE
  • Remove the Bolt Nub FREE
  • Apply Aluminum Black to the Brass Grip Hardware – FREE
  • Resin Scope Tip Insert - $1
  • Cut the Barrel – $3
  • Remove the Safety Lever – $5
  • Grind the Flash Hider screw to the correct length – $5 (this is simple but at the same time it is a PITA, I’m charging $5 to discourage people from asking me to do this :)
  • Attach the Pistons with glue and rivets – $5
  • Attach the Square detail with epoxy – $3

Obviously this projects list will be very different but that should give you an idea of what I am talking about.

You can also commission me to fully assemble and finish your blaster but I do this on a limited basis.

I picked up a real M19 scope several years ago, will it simply bolt on?

Re: DL-44 ESB Blaster Active Project Machined Parts Set $100

hey boba you can count on me having

all options on "initial machining"
all options on "deluxe scope machining"

Hiya, as requested:

Thanks for writing this out. I was wondering myself, since we're doing this at the same time you guys figure out cost and stuff, but I didn't want to bug you too much haha

The only question I have - will there be any tips and tricks for finishing this off ourselves? (I want to, though maybe lacking knowledge, it is prop building after all!)

Thanks for all the work, and for pointing me towards this run!

I think I vote #2. The design will have much less white space than the first design.

A: Yes, there are several threads in my history that explain the finishing process and I always provide a tutorial on how to build a specific blaster in the original thread.

If you still feel you can not finish your blaster, myself and other members of the this group offer finishing services.

Invoice paid.

Thanks for everything you've done on this, I'm really looking forward to these parts.

Re: DL-44 ESB Blaster Active Project Machined Parts Set $100

as for the other parts done by other members, will links be posted in this thread on where to find the other parts? or do we just keep an eye out on the run section?

When it is time to buy the raw brass parts (Scopes and Pistons) I will send out a group email with Think Jedi's info and I will post it here.

When it is time for the resin parts I will take the order for those and buy them in bulk from CE and just add them to everyone shipment

I did Roman's Obi-Wan plaques with the photos as well so it wouldn't be a problem. I will take design number 1 and see what I can come up with.

Ok.. I have seen a ton of discussion regarding the details of these parts... maybe I missed this discussion... but what are these two "knubs" on either side of the piston? How is everyone accounting for these? Any direction is appreciated. :) Thanks!

Re: DL-44 ESB Blaster Active Project Machined Parts Set $100

I have always thought that those were the same screws in the center on the pistons and I plan to off a machining process to ad the "half round pocket" to the pistons.

It's one of the reasons I asked Think Jedi to make them as a single piece.

The discussion about that detail is located in the discussion thread. I believe it starts here: http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=230129&page=10&p=3527847&viewfull=1#post3527847

Re: DL-44 ESB Blaster Active Project Machined Parts Set $100

Just so I get the correct photos to go with each version of the blaster available, is anyone able to provide me with some decent shots? I'm not the blaster expert you guys are.
