Limited Run Run Closed – Han ROTJ Blaster Limited Run / Accurized Mausers TOO

Re: Interest Thread – Han ROTJ Blaster Limited Run / Accurized Mausers TOO

Yes, please make the flash suppressor & the 3 piston halves in Delrin,
as that is what was originally use. The material can be machined like aluminium,
and it cost less than metal. The option will allow for a more accurate repro.

I want 3 to replace the aluminum ones I got from you ~10 years ago,
and 2 for the (MGC-based) DH-17.

Photos of the 2007 PIH auction for extra blaster parts (not all used),
the evident Delrin flash suppressor (worn away silver paint revealing black underneath),
and the DH-17:

5?

What are the other 2 for?

I thought you were talking about doing the flash hider in Delrin but then you mentioned pistons.,

Do you want the pistons and flash hider in Delrin

I want all metal. If I'm buying replica parts then I want them looking as realistic as possible for the "idealized" weapon. If I'm trying to replicate a prop then I would use whatever material the original prop builders used (Delrin, resin, real kit parts). Just my opinion, we all have our wants. :)

I like that "idealized" weapon. That is what I've been building lately with my props

Wasn´t only the uneven cube one from delrin?

I believe to remember the other versions were alu.

Re: Interest Thread – Han ROTJ Blaster Limited Run / Accurized Mausers TOO

I don't 100% accept that they used Delrin, it is not a common material to have laying around and shop.

Plus tools have to be ground differently to machine it correctly.

It's more likely that the black parts were aluminum masters cast in black resin.

Either way I will discuss this with the shop.

They will cost more to make because of the prep required to run Delrin. As I have said the tools will be ground differently and they have to completely clean out the machines because you can't mix aluminum and Delrin chips.

Most large shops have machines that run specific metals to avoid the clean up required for the change over but most can't afford a the space for a set of machines to run Delrin.

Häh?

Each machine shop i know has Delrin, maybe not all sizes at each time, but it is a common material.
And it works lovely with the sharp indexable cutting bits that were used for alu today . Same goes for the outdated tools that were ground to shape, aluminium angles work great.

True is it has to be disposed separate. And cleaning is not funny, chips are loaded with a electrical charge and adhere on any surface. This is the reason some shops try to argue the customers into alu. To ease up their work.

Just sent an email, interested in the ROTJ Kit!

You are not considering that those parts were made 33 years ago, the same time I was taking Machine Shop at the Altoona Area VoTec.

A time when CNC machines and carbide inserts were just starting to come into their own.

I wasn't taught about Delrin in school nor as it common material for machine shops to use for anything, I know from personal experience because part of the curriculum was working a couple hours at various local shops.

The entire time I have been running active projects on this forum (about 15 years) I have called numerous machine shops and not a single one had Delrin on hand and all of then said the parts would cost more if I elected to use it.

But all of that is irrelevant to this project, I'll get a price for both aluminum and Delrin parts and the member can choose what they want.

Yeah, count me in for the complete parts kit at the very least. Massive cool!

Re: Interest Thread – Han ROTJ Blaster Limited Run / Accurized Mausers TOO

I'm in for sure. I'll PM today with the number of kits and Denix C96's I'd like. Need at least 1, kinda want 2. Lol.
BTW- Thank you so much for taking on this project, I know it's a lot of extra work.
