Rub 'n Buff tips?

Hey guys, I'm thinking about using Silver Leaf Rub 'n Buff on a large project and would like some tips and any techniques you guys have. I tried it out on a small piece of resin and it seemed kinda splotchy. I've seen some COOL finished pieces here using it. I'm looking to get kind of a brushed aluminium look, not too shiny. Can it be sealed without ruining it?

Here's what I recommend:

1. First, your surface needs to be primered and wetsanded with very high (1000-2000) grit sandpaper.

2. Use only a tiny, tiny amount at a time. Trust me on this. You use too much and it'll be splotchy. Only take out the tiniest amount at a time.

3. Spread it around, then buff it with the palm of your hand.

4. Do step three repeatedly, until the whole surface is covered.

5. If your surface is uneven in its finish, use a very soft rag and buff it really hard all over. This will help even it out.

6. If you want to dull it down a bit from here, use some 0000 steel wool to bring down the shine.

7. Do NOT clearcoat it. It doesn't need it and it can ruin the finish. Fully buffed rub n buff doesn't rub off.

long term handling however will wear the paint down! There was a product someone found over on TDH that was a clear coat that was compatible. I *think* I remember reading somewhere on the Rubb and Buff packaging that they actually recommend a clear coat, but I keep throwing away the packaging, so I cant confirm that..

do I smell a Jango fett costume Jeff?
Nope, but it does involve a jetpack though! :love

Thanks for the tips guys! I'll mess around with it more this weekend to see if I want to go that route or just paint it instead.
