Rub N Buff Durabililty

I've rub and buffed my plastic farnsworth faceplate, and it looks very good. The only problem is that the stuff scratches off very easily. When I try to install the hardware it looks awful. Any tips? Is there any way to make this stuff scratch resistant. I guess maybe I should have just used metalic paint.

try spraying it with a clearcoat.

I have been told clear coat will leave it looking flat and non metallic so I would test it on something else first. If you do find something that works let me know as I'm having the same problem with my rub n buff.

Try Future Floor wax by Pledge. It works very well on chrome paints, without dulling. Not sure about Rub n buff, so You may want to test it out!

Acrylic clear-coat will turn silver rub and buff a yellow/gold, then settle into a dull metallic gray. Unless less that's the look you're going for, avoid avoid avoid.
