Round2 Acquires Star Wars License

I'm curious to see the side-by-side comparisons to the Revell. I need to know who's going to take my money!
The Revell is the best for display with the interior set. The AMT doesn’t have any inside cargo detail. But the lighting for the engines is superior. I have the Revell model. Thinking about the AMT for an in flight version.

It's almost like Revell and Round 2 had a pow wow and decided whose kit gets to do what. You can have the electronics nerds, but we want the diorama guys. (Or the Mouse wrote it into the license because there those conspiracy theory types hanging around here.)

Buy them both and kitbash them into one excellent ship. Pretty sure I'll get the AMT for an in-flight display model. It also has a tiny Grogu that you just might be able to see under a microscope. I check Amazon every day to see when the prices go down. I dropped $72.00 on the Revell kit, I don't want to spend more than $65.00 for the AMT.

The Round 2 Autoworld online site is selling it for 77 USD plus shipping. Culttvman has it for 72 plus shipping.

It was on Amazon for $62.99 with free Prime shipping the other day. I didn't grab it and now it's $57.99 with $11.99 shipping from a 3rd party. I'm not in a hurry to get it so I can wait until Prime gets them back in stock and gives a good price.

Boy, what shock.... Just got AMT's Razor Crest and could not believe how "soft", as in "simple" the detail is compared to the Revell offering.
Even with the texture that some had an issue with, the Revell kit has far better reproduction of the greeblies on the ship, IMHO. Here are a few
photos.

Weird

I assume they both had the same digital assets, but there definitely does seem to be a difference in the greeblie details, as in AMT removed or simplified them.

I wonder if that was a result of smoothing the surface of the digital asset which may explain why Revell's has the surface it does?

i.e. the digital asset may have had that rough surface, but if AMT used something like a higher anti-aliasing setting to get rid of the texture it may have also smoothed out some of the details?

I'm putting together the wee Bandai Razor Crest and even it has sharper detail! I was thinking of getting one of the larger offerings, and after seeing those pictures it will definitely be the Revell kit!

That is pretty bad, in comparison. Thanks for the pictures Teslabe.

I sit corrected. More than just the awful plastic.

I'd say put some primer on it first, then judge. Sometimes the plastic itself makes it appear more "soft" -- i.e. if it's even partially translucent. After painting, if the details still appear soft, then it's likely due to the factory they used. I suspect the ones that normally make toys use a different molding process that might not be capable of reproducing "crisp" details like we would be expecting.
