Round2 Acquires Star Wars License

I guess that is the real question that remains to be seen

If they size it so the frames are the same, then it indeed doesn't really matter how tall/wide the wings are and they should be in scale theoretically

I would agree on the cockpit frames being a reasonable baseline for TIE scale. The cockpit ball on the TIE r/b from Solo, for example, is way bigger than the standard TIE but you can extrapolate it's scale from the cockpit frame.

i got Revell 1/65 and convert to tie r/b

I just discovered I have a Revell kit in the stash (no box, kit in bags in a bin) and compared it to the Bandai standard TIE. It's pretty close to the illustration size comparison I posted above, making a Revell conversion close enough to 1/72 to make me satisfied. I'm really glad you posted your build pictures because now I have some inspiration to convert mine. I can focus my 3D prints on making some of the detail parts instead of worrying about printing the entire ship.

I was looking forward to the retro packaging with the big photo of the 5ft Falcon, but I see they doctored the photo to match the inaccurate details of the kit. Points for more honest advertising I guess, but sad to see. I also notice the cockpit frame on the TIE has the same small center section like the old Vader TIE, something I wished they had fixed on that kit but missed. I hope they aren't intentionally making the Standard TIE inaccurate just to keep a family resemblance. This may be the last shot we get at accurate kits in a decent scale, it would be stupid to screw it up over dumb stuff like this.

star-art can you shed some light on this?

Kit: revell 1/65
Cockpit Windows: bandai 1/72

Right. The Revell kit as a standard TIE is 1/65, but based on the scale reference above the TIE r/b is a much bigger ship. The Bandai 1/72 window frames are close in scale to the larger cockpit ball on the r/b, making a Revell conversion into the r/b approximately 1/72 (or close enough for my tastes). Scale in Star Wars ships is a moving target, but I can live with it.

What’s happened to the cockpit canopy & Radar dish,…I suppose this will prepare the customer for what will be in the box

I think that Tie release is a re-pop of the Old AMT Twin Pack of roughly 1/51 scale ties (although with new scaling they are closer to the Revell 1/65 size)

I didn't know they were planning to repop that one, with the new tool in the works.

The product code I see associated with it is AMT1299

Places listing that product code as saying "1/48" Tie FIghter ( I guess they figured 1/51 scaling was close enough to 1/48 to shoehorn it in)

although I can't really confirm much as it is still kind of speculation at this point

Does the new R2 Falcon have updated sidewalls (more/correct details) and an improved top engine deck?
It's NOT Bandai, but they did showcase in promo videos from awhile back that the sidewalls and engine deck were indeed retooled and 'more accurate'. Though I have not seen any close-up proof shots of it yet to know for certain.

That is correct. The TIE box art shown in that prior post is *not* for an all-new, much larger 1/32 kit still to come (hopefully next Spring).

Cool! Finally! Nice to see they made some changes to the TIE. Keep it up R2 so I can ad even more SW and ST kits I will hopefully build.Someday.
