ROTS Vader Helmet

Does anyone actually like the redesign of this helmet? There is something about this helmet that I just don't like. I don't know if it's the symetrical face, widened dome or flat eye lenses but it's just not a Vader lid that I would want in my collection.

Anyone else feel this way?

I totally agree. From the moment I saw it, I didn't care for it. I agree...something just seems...off. What bugs me is when I see collages of the OT, and they use the ep 3 image. I think part of it for me was that I thought Hayden Christiansen looked ridiculous in the suit. Too much of a bobble head look. But hey, that's just my opinion.

They should have gone with the Mcquarrie look..and let us assume over time it evolved into the one we know from the OT!

Ooooh that would've been cool! They should have done that all along. I mean since the time between EP1 and EP4 is only about 28-30 years, does technology and take a down turn that much? I know that Lucas was trying to show what the "hayday" of the republic was like but I would've loved to the more McQuarrie influence in the Prequals.

A friend and I were just discussing this. Heck..a few older Mcquarrie style droid (protocol and astromech) would have been great to see!

I think it's just a product of the younger/thinner Anakin. As he aged he filled in his helmet. To me the helmet doesn't look all that much wider. It's just his face is thinner. Give him a break,it was his first helmet. At some point the Emperor got pissed and smacked him up side the head causing his mask to go asymetrical. :confused

I would have preferred somewhat of a different design as well. By the time Luke and Darth face off, his suit would have been archaic in technological years.

Brian Muir's sculpt looks like the helmet of a warrior. The helmet in ROTS looks like a Pez dispenser. I don't buy the "symmetrical" argument in the slightest. They took an iconic design, a unique piece of artwork, and pissed all over it until all of the character was washed away--which is a pretty accurate metaphor for the prequals in general.

To say I'm not a fan of this helmet is an understatement, but they could have painted it two-toned like the originals at the very least. I mean, they still painted the chest armor two-toned. Why not the face?

I think it would be interesting to see a ROTS helmet painted up like the OT helmets (two-toned). It would still look like butt, but I imagine that would help significantly.

I think the ep3 helmet looks okay with the rest of the costume. It fits. It's a different helmet on a different costume with a different look.

On display by itself it does not give the same iconic feel that the OT helmet does.

I hated that helmet and have not added it to my collection. ANH is still my favorite look with ESB a close second.

I like it and it makes more sense that the original helmet would be symmetrical to begin with.

The ROTS helmet is my favorite version; it's symmetry and machined look fits Vader's character better than the handcrafted off-center OT helmet.

I have one and have to say it is the low neckline; just looked odd under the chest armor:thumbsdown

I actually like it. The only thing I never understood was the neck.

Is it different than the OT? Yes, and ESB is different than ANH. RotJ is slightly different that ESB... and the stunt helmet also had different proportions than the others.

Ummm... because Vader's helmet was never meant to be two tone. It was always supposed to be all black, it just wouldn't show up very well on film. So they painted it so it would show up better. However, it was never intended to look two tone... and most people couldn't even tell you that it was.

By the time RotS was filmed, they were able to film it in all black... I guess they still had problems and it had to be at exact angles and lit just so in order for it to show up.
