Is this sample solely the FX version? Would the static version have any difference in appearance due to the different materials used?

Overall this looks fantastic!

The appearance between both static and FX should be exactly the same. Both static and FX should be indistinguishable between the two.

Update: Ich habe das Muster erhalten und den Griff gründlich geprüft. Bryan und ich sind insgesamt sehr zufrieden, es werden jedoch noch einige kleine Anpassungen vorgenommen (hauptsächlich an der Oberflächenbeschaffenheit der Granate und des Boosters). Mechanisch ist alles einwandfrei, die einstellbare Taktung, die Schallentlüftung und das Kolbensystem sind hervorragend. Ich konnte sogar mein Öko-Chassis probeweise montieren. (Siehe Video unten). Vielen Dank für eure Geduld, das Warten wird sich definitiv lohnen. Hoffentlich macht euch das neugierig!

Yes the eco chassis will have a crystal chamber option. I'll make sure to make a video going through all of the chassis versions and features of this hilt.

What was the reasoning behind the decision to go with a 7/8” blade instead of a 1” blade?

What was the reasoning behind the decision to go with a 7/8” blade instead of a 1” blade?

First reason was for accuracy, we didn't want the emitter details to get cut into or modified to accommodate a 1" blade.

Second, most Anakin episode 3 sabers are 7/8" and we wanted this saber to compliment those sabers.

And finally, I think 7/8" adds a very premium look to sabers.

Update: I received the sample and have gone through the hilt thoroughly. Overall Bryan and I are very pleased with it, but there are some small adjustments that will be made (mainly the surface finish on the grenade and booster) Mechanically everything is sound, the adjustable clocking, sound venting, and plunger system turned out wonderful. I was even able to test fit my eco chassis. (See video attached below). I appreciate the patience this far, it will definitely be worth the wait. Hopefully this will get you guys excited!

Did you weather the hilt, or is that straight from the manufacturer? I love that it already has a little patina.

No weathering, Straight from the machinist. Yeah it does add character to it.

I just received the one sample from Ronin to check over in person.
Overall its really great, very high quality work from the machinist. I need to go through with the caliper and check everything. We do have some notes on surface finishes (getting the black components to be a bit glossier) and discussing chrome plate quality.
They already have most of the parts machined so the finish line is not far off on these FX hilts… I’m hesitant to give specific timelines but we’re anxious to get these shipped while the tarriff situation is ‘lower’.

...as with all of these things, it takes time. Rather get things accurate to the target prop and your specified design than anything else. I know patience isn't a common thing within most hobbies, especially this one, or even society, but it's always best to relax as the customer and let you guys focus on getting it right, and providing updates along the way. Thank you both kindly for doing that!

To all the "new member" folks targeting this thread for a read and updates, I encourage the same. Be patient and in due time things will usually work out just fine. Besides, it's not like Obi is trapped in the arena and we need to send a thousand Jedi to battle at once....we have any money on the line right now, just wishful about grabbing one!
