WOW thanks alot everyone, your too kind.:love
Yes I also think that JRX did a great job sculpting the head, and I enjoyed painting it. Thats why I had to make the eyes as good as possible.
I try to be better and better every time, as I intend to be doing this for many years to come.:lol
I try to capture details in my way of painting, but also the light is very important. Should I take a picture of this emperor bust with a flash and with no special lightning, it would noy look so good.
What I did was to paint him human first, you know like a normal skin tone. And than went from the human colors, to the well known pale look
like we all remember Palpatine from the classic trilogy.
Yes I do agree, that the sculpt is not 100% perfect, as it´s a bit rough on some spots, but Ians well known expression is there.
(JRX) Jesper, used alot of reference pictures from different angles and he found a great photo of the original make-up mask. It was very rough and didn´t look that good.
The original make-up mask was not very good made from what I could see on that picture. All the skin details was overdone, but it was suppose to be like that, very rough to bring forward certain shadows.
And I think Jesper captured that.
When we talk about SC Emperor, I think it´s a great sculpt in many ways and Howard did a great job with that one as well.:thumbsup
All though, I don´t think SC finished it that good. I mean the pose of the torso, and the way that the attached the cloak. The paint job was pretty nice, but the cloak was totally wrong.
Also, what we need to think of is that, Howard sculpted it they way they wanted it to be, and I belive Lucasfilm has certain rules and corrections.
Also, I don´t think SC photos was that good. They used way too much light as you can see on their pictures.
I used one of their pictures and mixed it in photoshop with the one cloak I made. And as you can see, Howards great sculpt comes forward directly.
You see, it does look great all of a sudden. I just changed the cloak.
