ROTJ detonator charges

Such nice pics from the auction!

My guess was the lower ring was some part of a light fixture/lamp shade because of the sets of holes.. I came close in a few searches but seeing these images - the steps inside it are weird. I really want to build one of these lol. If you search for "Atomic Flying Saucer Aluminum Ceiling Light Fixture" I think you get some similar shapes, that have holes on the ring as part of the light fixtures. Some even have that slight ribbing texture.

But now.. do the holes in the base look hand drilled to anyone else? There's a lot of variation in the spacing it, doesn't seem like something that would have been a part of the original found item now that I look at it.

thd9791 The donut knob is interesting, it looks like its made out of 3 parts. A steel 'donut', an aluminum base, and a plastic gear (it almost looks like a Lego gear based on color.. it looks awfully similar to 'old grey' I'm going to go look at my parts now! Nope)

Auction link to the original images:
I'm sure I've seen this mentioned somewhere else on here now that I'm staring at the prop, but the little greeblies on top that are the same color as the body are V2 mystery chunks. They look like they might be the same material as the main body of the prop, maybe they were cast along with the body and painted? The material for the skirt is a different color, I've got no guesses on what the original object was though.

Damn, beat me to it. I was just scrolling through the catalog and noticed the same thing: V2's Mystery Chunk abound!

Since a lot of parts on props were from the V8 Invisible Engine, does anyone know if that model kit uses gears?

I keep thinking the main body is some sort of housing, like something that housed a motor. I also have to wonder if it is orange because it is some sort of "safety" related part. Needs to be easy to see.

Good eye coolhanluked! That's definitely a transcriptor part.

Mara Jade's Father A quick google shows what seems to be a similar gear on the Revell V8, can anyone check their stash of parts?

Interestingly, I think the mine up for auction is one of Mr. Lopez's:

Here's a few things I noticed looking at it more closely:

I drew up a quick and dirty model in fusion 360 to gives us an idea of what we may be looking for as well:

A thought - is it possible that its actually more than one piece and was just cast in orange resin? The unaligned center part is what is making me think that.

Also, I don't know how many of you have seen Scottjua's interview with Mr Alinger on his patreon, but looking at the mystery chunks, I think those are washers or a spacer under them, especially after hearing what was said in the interview. (Rather than the 'lip' featured on the SH and upcoming AS chunk) I'm not going to say anymore but that's a thought for those who have seen it. I would recommend subscribing, even for that one interview!

just a word of caution before folk start buying emi tubes to get the silver vents or just buying vents. they have different orientations.

the ones on the bomb as we see it here have the 3 rectangular holes top ,bottom and left with the blinds pointing down, you get the blinds pointing up as well. it seems to be random when they are being made. you might buy a tube and they will all be wrong........... or right if you are lucky.

i have 12 here and they are all facing the wrong way :)

all the ones i had that were correct went with 8d8 kits

agh, model v2 going to have to be done , LOL. But if this is the real deal, its great :)

I'd scaled this one down to make an internet monitor, but its good to see the real parts in close up, and the text as well

So there's a steel (or other rust-sensitive metal) greeblie on top... that really looks the part, let me see if I have that in the Revell one

Aha! Is that gear right here?

I think this is a modern version, and I'm not aware of the changes between the vintage vs modern kit but those pics sure look like the real deal. Great job on finding that!

Now regarding confirming the center is a transcriptor part, even with that rough chamfer, I think the hole we see is the tone arm hole. Since the counterweight has a seam down the middle (in green) I wonder if the main part has a similar seam underneath?

(transcriptor pic from google)

Also I realized there aren't any pics of the greeblie on the other side in the auction photos...

Credit to division 6 from the other bunker bomb thread. Anyone have any pics of that side?

Thank you for that. You just answered thd9791 question to me. And i guess i have to look harder in my models for that part. I have the 60s renwal kits and a 70s revell kit. Its to my understanding that they used the same molds for all the kits all they way to the last kits in production.

Holy ... I finally have use for that old unwanted Transcriptor part I kept! Thanks.

Sure is that gear ZK, thanks. For some reason I thought he top piece was part of the same assembly looking at the tiny pictures on my phone.
