Room Guard circuit with custom sound???

(Prop related, but please move if this should be somewhere else.)

I'm looking for a movement sensor 'Room Guard' circuit that I can change the sound samples to whatever I want, maybe with movement?

Ordered a Tom Servo kit from joecrow and want to set it up so that he 'talks' when someone walks by.

Anything like this exist? A kit, or something?

Any help appreciated!
Cheers,

C.

I'd be interested in this too... on the way home from work tonight I called into the supermarket and bought a Garage/Shed PIR (Passive Infra-Red) sensor with built-in alarm, for the princly sum of £2!

Thought it would be worth a try to pull it apart and see if I can connect a voice recorder microchip thingy, in place of the alarm module... eventually to put the whole thing in a Vader or Stormtrooper mannequin display :love

Has anyone done this before, and will I need a degree in electronics to acheive this?

Cheers,
John

It's relativly a simple circuit in the electronics field but if you don't have any experience with circuitry then it doesn't matter how simple it is it's still impossible. :rolleyes As far as something already existing that does what you want I don't know of anything off hand but if you're ok with building/modifying something a good place to start might be this article on makezine.com: http://forums.makezine.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=1503

I guess it all depends on how fancy and sorts you want the circuit, it can be done with a little kit bashing and a cheap digital recorder, or it can be a custom one off with CD quality sounds... The digital recorder will sound like a toy, but will work...

If you are seriously interested I could build you one in either configuration but I can warn you that CD (high) quality sounds that you can easily change at your will adds loads to the cost...

Or you can try kit bashing on your own couple a motion detector to the cheap Radio Shack digital recorder module and you can get a working model for say $20 give or take... Movement will add a bit, depending on how you do it and what motion your require...

Yeah, I have a ton of boards that already do this. They are activated by an IR motion sensor. Sounds can be programmed on the chip for you. Or if you want better quality, cost goes up. All in all pretty straight forward to do...
