Roddenberry.com Phase Pistol - Reviews?

I'm thinking of picking up one of the Enterprise Phase Pistols and possibly the matching Communicator from Roddenberry.com.

Anyone have any experience with these items (or other roddenberry.com replicas)? Finding good pictures, let alone reviews, has been difficult.

Might just settle for an AA set and save $1000!

My understanding is that they are pretty good, though I don't own one. Ask our member Phase Pistol, or jhusel.

I've purchased a few kits from them, and their kits have always been top notch, although slightly on the more expensive side.

As most of their kits are made by the same people who made the screen used props, you'll be pressed to beat them on accuracy though.

Mike Moore designed the Communicator, the guys from HMS also several created several other props from the Show, so as far as I'm concerned, you can't get any better than that.

As far as the costs of the kits, keep in mind that Roddenberry alone sets the prices, not the guys from HMS.

I recently snagged rod.com boomerang and dolphin phaser kits over in the junkyard. Both solid casts, but the details are sharp, almost no clean up required.

Thanks for the input everyone! All positive reviews of Rodd/HMS so I'm leaning towards buying the kits.
