Rocketeer Helmet Question

Just wondering what the MR helmet is made from and what the helmet in the movie is (would have been) made from. Is it straight up weathered brass?

The MR is made of brass. Very heavy piece.

While there are far more knowledgable people here than me when it comes to the Rocketeer, I can't imagine the screen used helmets being made of brass. They were probably made of fiberglass or some type of resin.

The original hero helmets were cast resin, painted gold and weathered. As for what it's SUPPOSED to be in the context of the movie, I'm assuming it'd have been some kind of relatively thin metal... probably brass. The item Peevy supposedly makes it from I think is some kind of gas heater type of thing.

I always thought Peevey made it out of some type of water heater.

Yeah, I'm fairly sure it's one of those old style heater type things. I forget what they were called. The prop had to have been custom made for the film so it can't be a found item. I'm pretty sure the design is based on those old antique heaters like my grandmother used to have many years ago however.

If you look in the photo, you can see the grating on the top for heat to pass through and you can see the spot on the side where I guess a gas line of some kind would be hooked up.
