Robotic spirit of Fire - Roxena - Completed

Hey, here's another one!... Well all I can say is that every time a neat robot woman design pops into my head, a cheap mannequin is sold nearby that's perfect for making it a reality.

This time was no exeption when imagining a red and black evil looking alien robot woman named Roxena while a faceless black mannequin by the company Roxy Display was sold nearby, so I bought the thing to turn it into something like this -
Roxena.jpg

The small painting didn't depict her exactly as I imagined her. Her head looked skewed in a way like the head of a humanoid siamese cat, if that makes sense. Here is a comparison of the normal and skewed head shape -

I'm not sure how to explain it, but I wanted to sculpt the face to look not beautiful while at the same time being beautiful, if that makes sense... So it was made to look more angley and alien like than the ones I made before, with circuits and all -

The painted casting looks like this with black, silver, and red paint, plus reflective irises that looks almost like they are burning -

A whole lot of wires and fluffy packaging ribbon was pulled through hundreds of holes through the head -

Then the hair was all braided, and yes that was extremely boring and time consuming. My forearms were twice as large afterwards...

More tubes and stuff wrapped in yellow reflective cord -

With a scorpion styled point in the end!

This is how far I've come with this project now, only being able to work on it at night in the dark and haunted museum that might also display all the robot woman statues I've built later along with my real robots and the full size Nothosaurus model I'm building them -

So, what you all think of this so far?

Re: Robot woman statue - Roxena

Thanks for liking that.

Yeah I Googled him now and recognized his artwork, that would look cool as a statue if you could get the chrome to look right. Here I have no options to chrome stuff what so ever, just the plain old Norwegian invented spray can here.

Re: Female robot statue - Roxena

@blip - I searched for photos online, but could only find photos of the male versions. Got any photos of the female robots? Maybe they will give me a few new ideas.

@Gorgot3000 - Yes! Many times I've been inspired by Giger's artwork before building these, in fact the skewed elongated skull shape I envisioned looks very much like the sort of stuff Giger painted too, like this -

Unfortunately this was going to be the last one, but now I'm seeing another one in gold named Almea.... Damn it! I still don't know why I'm supposed to build these in the first place, maybe the "right person" will see them in the museum later and offer me a job to build various stuff for something, who knows...

Wow great stuff ......i was going to say awesome work
shop u have!:lol:thumbsup
What did u make the head out of?
Ok never mind i see it was a mannequin.

Re: Female robot statue - Roxena

Thanks.

Haha, yeah I wish I had a workshop like that, but at least I can use theirs.
some of the photos were taken in my room of stuff with costume parts in the background.
The other white robot statue is another one I'm working on called Zenia.

Yes it was a mannequin originally, but it did not have a face, it was sculpted in clay and cast in fiberglass and bondo.

Re: Female robot statue - Roxena

Some updates on this.

Painted the torso and gave it a few more parts and tubes. The triangle shaped "power core" is also applied with highly reflective tape.

I also put some reflective tape on the finger nails, plus a triangle on the hands and some symbols on one of the arms. The other arm will have the name Roxena in reflective tape.

I really do love this reflective tape, it looks like it's on fire in photos, which fits really well with the theme of this one, but I'm not sure if I should add a whole lot more of it all over since it might take away the effect of the glowing eyes and the "power core", but maybe adding more if it will just give the whole thing a much larger effect.

And now for something completely different... The hands were filled with white powder that I have no idea why was in there in the first place when these hands are made of plastic and won't make dust when sawn through.
TemplatePhotos-224.jpg

I thought at first it might be from if they drilled open the hole for the hand coupling, but as you can see the plastic is really thin there and would in no way make that much fine dust from drilling through it, in fact that would make a larger grain of plastic dust.
TemplatePhotos-225.jpg

And another thing is that there were dots of toilet paper in them as if used to plug up the powder inside them, and I really doubt they add very lightweight powder to make the hands heavier or something which makes no sense.

So yeah I'm of course worried someone might have tried to smuggle something illegal in them at some point and forgotten about it. This mannequin was in fact used before I bought it.

So do you all think they were filled with "the wrong stuff"?

Re: Female robot statue - Roxena

That reflective tape looks great on the nails. Just don't snort that dust lol.

Re: Female robot statue - Roxena

I was hoping for a more chemical way of testing it, like if it's bad the liquid turns red,
instead they tell me to test it on my gums, which I sure as hell won't!
So if it's bad, gums turn numb. If it's just resin dust, gum cancer!

Oh yeah, the tape looks burning, I'll have to see if it fits to put on more places.

I say vacuum it up and toss it in the trash. Don't take the risk that it is some illegal drugs.

Re: Female robot statue - Roxena

Yeah it's in the trash already. I won't bother to bring it to somewhere to check it, 'cause if it is drugs, it still goes in the trash either way. No friggin way am I going to stuff that stuff in my mouth to check it.

This project should be done soon though, hopefully get more work on it tonight.

Re: Female robot statue - Roxena

If you're really curious, you can run a cobalt-thiocyanate test on the powder. If it turns blue, you've got something. Can't be conclusive on what, as there's a whole mess of stuff that turns blue (codeine, benadryl, methamphetamine, ritalin, and more).

Cobalt(II) thiocyanate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sirchie should sell 'em - Presumptive Drug Testing Kits

(and fyi, you're not going to get mouth cancer if you put a small amount of resin powder on your gums. That's like saying you're going to die of lead poisoning if you nibble on the end of your pencil.) ;)

Re: Female robot statue - Roxena

Ah yes, that's the sort of test I was wondering about, but I've got no idea where to get that though, so I'll just say screw it all, whatever it is, it's in the trash anyway.

Can anyone guess what I used on top of her head? A hint would be Star Trek.

Re: Female robot statue - Roxena - Completed

Finished it at Sunday, still needs a skirt though, but most photos I had planned only showed above that anyway, and she probably wouldn't wear clothes when standing in lava anyway.

The whole building process should be done soon at this address - The Creation Of Roxena

Hope ye all like it so far.
