Re: robo3687's Pep Files -Iron Man Mk IV/VI & more...

Wow tony, that red is gorgeous. Cant wait to see more pictures and the whole suit completed!

Is that a team you have working with you to build it, or were they just there to help you hold the suit together to take pics?

Re: robo3687's Pep Files -Iron Man Mk IV/VI & more...

wow thats great. This is the first time that i have noticed the biseps on the mk vi are a different colour to the mk iv. Shocking as ive been studying the armours for months now. Im actually quite ashamed of myself for not noticing this before. Nice work anyway, which colours have you used? i assume a base layer of silver, but which red on top?

Re: robo3687's Pep Files -Iron Man Mk IV/VI & more...

holy crap dude! i gotta know the painting technique!

my guess is black, silver, then candy apple red. i cant find candy in spray so im gonna try cherry. i hope it works out. :p

BTW MOUNTING

as far as mounting, i suggest splitting the brace along the shoulders and using rare earth magnets to reattach them once your head fits through. this allows good alignment and a strong fit. as for the back and the chest, i would add magnets to attach the upper arms of the back to the brace, then some to where the chest and back meet on the sides. this can also work for the palm pieces. and if you have any left over, use em for attaching the neck pieces to the back of the neck piece so you can easily get in and out of it.

to obtain cheap rare earth magnets, go for kjmagnetics.com i personally bought some b333-n52's for 26 bucks for a hundred pack. likewise i purchased some b842-n52's for 50 bucks for a hundred pack. they are pretty small so you can easily fit them into the suit and not be uncomfortable. the n52 designation is a higher quality with a higher tensile strength. the 842s have between 5 and 12 pounds of strength and are 1/2 x 1/4 x 1/8 and the 333s have 2.8 to 3.3 pounds of strength and are 3/16 x 3/16 x 3/16. just superglue them or epoxy them in and be sure they are aligned correctly with their mates on the other pieces or they may make your suit shift unnecessarily.

almost halloween!!! i'm so stressed XD

One more thing, a have 2 helmets, one is the default scale, but it fits me tight, so i made another one a lil bigger, it fits me great, but I think maybe it look very big, here's a pic with the big helmet, what do you think???

do the larger helm and to make it look smaller, do some black accents. it'll give it the illusion that its smaller

btw, did any one do anything to make the legs easier? im looking at the files now and i gotta say Holy Cow... there gunna be a NIGHTMARE, going in to re do alot of the parts for a comission job and progress has been slowed ALOT.

solid as a rock, and is not heavy ;)

Re: robo3687's Pep Files -Iron Man Mk IV/VI & more...

that was my idea for the feet also. the foam is very dense and is used to repair masonry so i'd say it will do the job nicely. just fiberglass the feet on the outside so ti wont deform the piece. its not all that detailed anyway so you can reshape it afterward.

Re: robo3687's Pep Files -Iron Man Mk IV/VI & more...

Almost done here, have bondo and sanding on 4 more parts , configuring straps to hold it up and then adding the gears for the mask to open and close!

I have buttons accessible from underneath the hand plate index and pinky fingers that turn on and off repulsors (index) arc reactor (left pinky) and mask lights/open/close (right pinky). Mask will be opening and closing with 2 servos by Sunday night.

Shoes will be cut open and slippers installed to make it a comfortable fit. We have figured how to attach them to shin and thih parts so they should move pretty smoothly.

6 days left! I expect to be walking in this by next Thursday!

he stated that he used some of robos files so it is relevent. This is huge inspiration to me and maybe it will inspire others too.
Thanks for thoses words.

maybe robos fingers, but thats it from what i can see.

Yes fingers, because is diferent armor but the main idea is you can make a wonderfull and amazing armor from paper. Not matter what Ironman version.
Like other people said "From paper to Iron". Good Luck:thumbsup
