Re: robo3687's Pep Files -Imperial Commando helmet posted! 25/9/10

i'm not trying to drown my iron man stuff with the star wars stuff....the reason I'm keeping everything in the one thread is so I don't clutter up the forums, and so everyone knows the one place to come to to get my stuff...

now, about the lack of posts....since it's getting near halloween, I'm guessing most people are feverishly working away on their suits and don't have time to post....and as for me not posting i just haven't had the time to work on things the last few weeks...but...i have a couple of things almost finished that i hope to release in the near future....

star wars and iron man are different fan bases, but they're both interests of mine and as such will be the things I'll be working on primarily....also I'm pretty sure the rpf started as a predominately star wars based site....so there's a fanbase here for that....

so yeh...not offended at all just wanted to clarify some things...apologies if i sounded grouchy at all..lol...just a lack of sleep is all....

yeh 7sinzz is right, hate to leave this thread :< it was the reason i started my build but Imperial Commando helmet posted heading could confuse a would-be iron man builder. Im moving all work progress to the iron man mark vi build thread!
it's been emotional.laterz

Re: robo3687's Pep Files -Iron Man Mk IV/VI & more...

I'm in the bondo stage right now, and since I'm doing everything at once before moving on to painting, there's nothing exciting to show. I have a 3 day weekend coming up so I will be making some good progress...

I have started pepping my 2nd helmet as well finally.

Re: robo3687's Pep Files -Iron Man Mk IV/VI & more...

@robo please dont appologise at all for seeming grouchy. And someone like you could not clutter up the forums even if you tried. Your threads are of MASSIVE value to the community as individual threads, their value is increased by keeping them individual and easier for people to find. I was more concerned that i may have upset you with my comments. You have become a star because of these files, alot of people are unbelievably greatful for them. You deserve for people to find them distributed by you and give you the credit you deserve. Im sure they are already being uploaded by other people somewhere on the net claiming them as their own creations. At least if you keep this thread iron man only, people can find them in their true home and know where the credit is due.
Maybe a better title would be "The official home of the best Iron Man pep files in the world".... but thats just me sucking up :-D

Re: robo3687's Pep Files -Iron Man Mk IV/VI & more...

well i'm going to let you guys in on something....i've been planning to do it for a while but it looks like I'll have an opportunity to soon...

once i finish my republic/imperial commando stuff I'll be moving onto this....

i know you guys have asked about it a lot...so I've decided to whack it on the to-do list...

also in a few weeks I'll finally be getting this

the Hot Toys 1/6 scale War Machine...

so with that plus the blu-ray of IM2 i should be able to churn something out that's fairly accurate...

but i have to finish the commando stuff and another project first before I dive in....

Re: robo3687's Pep Files -Iron Man Mk IV/VI & more...

That is the best news i have heard in a long time! I plan on making both suits but i could only find half decent files for warmachine. I plan on setting up each suit in front of two movie posters that a got from work. Here are the posters.

Re: robo3687's Pep Files -Iron Man Mk IV/VI & more...

Hey guys just want to give you an update on my IM mkvi build.

I've started bondo-ing and I gotta say its frigging hard. I have a few questions:

1) do you guys apply a thick coat all over or skim coat the divots first and then apply a thick coat etc...

2) i was just made aware that woodworking sandpaper will be a waste of time and i should go for the automotive sandpaper. makes sense since we're using bondo. what are you guys using?

3) THE FOOT.... i filled the heel and toe cap with resin and the thing weighs a ton. what were the other options i should have considered??

Anyways i'm sure everyone is busy getting their armour ready for halloween and i wanted to wish everyone luck.

Re: robo3687's Pep Files -Iron Man Mk IV/VI & more...

As far as Bondo goes: Skim coats all the way. The only reason you should ever need a thick coat is if your pep is extremely distorted or you are working from a low def model. Basically you are just looking to round out the spaces between the vertices where the paper meets or folds.

Good luck.
