Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - spine uploaded....suit complete...finally

i am so new to scaling it isnt funny. if i changed the scale to 32.411754, about what waist size do you think that would come out to be?

I dunno what waist size, but it should work out if you're 7' tall. Other than that, you have a lot of p90x to do.

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - spine uploaded....suit complete...finally

Here is an update on my IM MKVI pep build. I started this about 3 weeks ago but had to build another helmet coz I screwed up the first one. Will be working on the back next week.

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - spine uploaded....suit complete...finally

I know this is compleatly unrealated to this topic, but ive been reading the thread for a long time now and everyone seems really helpful. I am by the way making an iron man suit from Robos files, but im in between making a scorpion costume that i will have done for this halloween. (iron man is hopefully for next year!)
But does anyone know of a pep file for something like the knee pads on this picture. or even the gauntlets. and the shoulders!
Thanks and again sorry for being so off topic. you guys are just so helpful!

What scale did yall use as the average 6 ft person for the shin?
I used the default and it ended up crazy huge for the calves.

This related to exactly what I have been asking about and I hope someone has an answer. I realize no entire Pep suit will fit someone perfectly in the default size. But My concern is changing a particular dimension of a piece without changing it's entire relative size. The abs height is perfect for me since I am exactly 6' tall, for example, but being I have a 35" waist, I need to size up on the width, but not the height. And does that mean if I make it bigger, I also need to make the chest bigger too to fit around it? Same with the codpiece, I don't want to enlarge the entire thing, but rather make it slightly bigger width wise. And I agree, I could use a thinner leg, but if I scale it, it will also suffer in the length. I had asked about transforming the model and found out how to mess with it in Designer, but it looks like a LOT of work for someone who has little experience with it like me. IS there someone who can take the model and maybe make a wider codpiece and ab set and a thinner lower leg? I know eventually this stuff seems to appear, there are a lot of Mark III files from different people so you can pick and choose. This suit the Mark IV is exactly what i was hoping for, just wish I knew how to make the adjustments! Sorry I know this is long winded, but just wanted to reiterate what has been said.

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - spine uploaded....suit complete...finally

Well as it seems scaling the bits is a real problem, i heve invested a bit and i hope this will be helpfull:

First you measure your dimensions, in case of the cod piece you should measure over the surface whit a straight rule or flexometer so it gives the right size, it means don`t measure the perimeter, well after you have the dimensions from your body go to the Pepakura Designer, in the interface at the right-bottom of the screen it appears the dimensions of the assembled piece, is like if were a cube tangent to the piece, those are the dimensions shown there. After that you go to 2D menu and select change scale_scale factor... then a window shows the dimensions same as the right-bottom corner, there you can change the scale factor or and independent value so it fits your measures previously taken, but this window do not let you change and independent value because it changes the scale completely, so if you have not the right proportions to fit the cod at the default scale ratio, you have another choice, in the 2D menu also there is an option which says: recalculate parts layout, whit this function the program will pop a window that has two options in the dimensions, one of these is a check box which says: Manual it will activate the manual adjust for all the dimensions and there you can change independently the values for that different directions of the piece independently or change the entire scale (maintaining scale ratio) as before; so you put your previously measured dimensions from your body whit a bit of space for glassing and padding and that... and whit luck the piece will be the right size for you. hope this helps someone. Luck

Note: Unfortunately i did not know this when i constructed the first parts of my armor, but then... one try for every piece using this...

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - spine uploaded....suit complete...finally

This is intriguing NICK! Thanks!
I will email this to myself at work and try it tomorrow (the downfall of having a Mac at home is I have to do this on my lunch at work!)

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - spine uploaded....suit complete...finally

well, if you need a bit more room to squeeze in, you could try making the abs into flat pieces instead of having those quarter inch rims on them.

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - spine uploaded....suit complete...finally

I was actually just about to suggest the above, aswell as meantion that theres a section that over hangs at the front that you could move back out, and it would probably add a couple inches. Obviously it would have to be angled outwards and create more of a flat stomach, but it may work out better then all the resizing.
Alternately, maybe add another block onto either end of the side pieces to extend it out as required.

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - spine uploaded....suit complete...finally

hey guys, sorry bout the scaling issues you guys are ahving....i'm sure you'll all work it out...cos you know more about all that scaling stuff than i do

just popping in to say thanks to the following people for their donations:

Dark Nerd
td2253
Azurial
Pilot
Len Anderson
tonyalarkon
RaDiCaL

they are much appreciated

oh and on the subject of the thigh extensions, I decided not to do them as they're basically just a flat piece cut to shape and it seemed a bit pointless to pep them..plus they'll probly be different for everyone...

I'm using your peps and I really love them.

I'm so sorry that I can't donate anything to(for) you

I know you are really tired,
but I have something to tell you about the thigh extension parts

and you said it will be flat... but I don't think so
I think it could be... like this

and you said It will be different for everyone,
But I don't think so because It could be made like that way I just writed.

This is what I wanted to tell you MR.ROBO

If you don't mind.... Please make them for everyone who use your peps T.T

Re: robo3687's Iron Man 2 Pep Files - spine uploaded....suit complete...finally

Donation sent Robo, glad to contribute!

Progress report, got the spine and one foot done, so all that leaves me to construct is the right thigh, right shin and the other foot. I aim to be done by Monday and start my next round of fibreglassing.

I'm determined to have it all done and ready for the DVD release :)

and now my brain hurts lol.

lets start with this one - do you mean to say mesure a box around each section of your body? cuz when i rescaled a few parts they came out ginourmus

and now about thigh additions. Dancin'_Fool's parts should be a suitable substitute in thereas they LOOK like they can fit

Unfortunately I tried this and it does not work. Even in this mode, when you change the width for example, it automatically changes the other two dimensions with it keeping the proportions. Oh well, thanks anyhow! :)
