Rise of the Planet of the Apes SPOILERS

I just want to know how the hell it gets to a beach, period. No beaches on the little island, last I checked.

God, Denise, yes. And Elisabeth. SUCH lovely ladies, but scientists, c'mon. Just not in their range. Anne Hathaway could do it, maybe. Jennifer Connelly, any day of the week, with one arm tied behind her back.

But Denise?!? What were they thinking! Bond girl, sure. Scientist, nnnngggh!!! Just make her something else. Problem solved. But nooooo...

You blew it up, you old, fish-eyed fool!

As far as entertainment value goes that was the best movie that I have seen in awhile. Fun, Fun, Fun movie. I really enjoyed it. It isn't my favorite movie the of the summer, but it is well worth going to see as it is the funnest movie yet. Highly entertaining. I was enthralled by it. I absolutely love a film where reality slips away and I leave this world behind. This movie did that for me and did it very well. I hope it makes more money than god, because it certainly deserves it.

just seen it and was rather impressed .. i did notice quite a few homages to the original which were done in a sutle and very respectful way .. and was surprised to notice i think that the picture on the brochure when Charles says Ceasar and quotes Shakespeare .. was that Roddy McDowell ???

PS .. i love living just up the road from Weta !!!

Just got back from a matinee and had to hop right on here. Loved it, loved the references to the original series even though I had to explain a lot of it to my friend. Can't wait for the sequel.

Got back for seeing it and enjoyed it very much. I have only seen the original and the Tim Burton remake. There were times I reminded myself there were no real apes used. The CGI was very impressive. The story line was too.

Finally got a chance to see it, great film. All of my friends were bagging on it because the trailer wasn't anything special. Boy were they wrong. I particularly liked Ceasar riding the horse towards the end. Now bring on the sequels.

WOW! That was fantastic. One of the best movie I've seen in YEARS, if not decades Very, very well done, from story to CGI. Loved everything about it. Easy to suspend my disbelief.

Loved how they developed Caesar's realization of being a misfit, and finding his purpose. Perfect. Also loved how it wasn't a "take over the world as revenge for being mistreated" movie like the original but a "We just want to be free". Loved the subtle homages to the originals.

Ending was great too, watching the spread of the virus, setting us up for the sequels.

I am just amazed on how realistic the CGI was. Seriously. The apes were real in my book.

Can't wait for the next installment.

A little late but we just saw it tonight and LOVED it. I was worried that Captain America was going to be the best movie I saw all year! :lol

Several years ago, after Burton's version came out and bombed, I read an interview with him where he says the only reason it didn't do well was because it wasn't part of the original set of movies. His was new and different so people were going to hate it no matter how good it is.
I bet (if he truly believed this) he was waiting for this to come out, bomb and then say "See? Told ya so!"
I'm sure wherever he is now he's saying, "The new movie made HOW much?! Crap...my movie really DID suck!"

I saw it the other day but was very disappointed in the movie. I did enjoy the winks to the original (Heston in the 10 Commandments, the Icarus, etc.) but I was expecting much more. The bottom line is all that happened was that the apes with the enhanced intelligence just wanted to escape the primate facility and make it to the redwood forest. What a anti-climatic ending. I hated the whole golden gate bridge scene. One moment we see the helicopter flying over the bridge; not a cloud in the sky. The next second the apes are climbing into the fog to hide. Fog that wasn't there the scene before. Actually was expecting much more based on the reviews. Just my opinion of course and I understand this is a set-up for a sequel but I wanted more then a 2 hr set-up for the next movie. I wanted some compelling and comprehensive story that just wasn't there IMO.

That actually happens. I've started walking on the city end in blue sky and not be able to see my own feet by the time I get to the North Tower. All that scene proved to me was that part of the movie takes place in September. :lol

Saw it, liked it.

Canisters were awesome (someone figure out a hardware way to make em, not all of us have access to cnc machines :lol ), completely forgot the apes were all CGI. WETA knocked it outta the park.

Only "WTF?" moment had to be the guy, on horseback, beating a GORILLA with a nightstick. What the hell? How did this even remotely seem like a smart or good idea at the time?

The only "bad" cgi in the film seemed to be when Franco was giving his "Come home" speech. It looked like he was looking off to the shoulder of Ceaser and not actually looking at him face to face.

When it hits you that you haven't heard one single word of dialog but still understand what's going on.. you have that "**** a brick" moment and realize that this is an awesome movie, and WETA deserves every penny it got for the cgi.

Felt so bad for Rodney though, Every time he showed up in the film he got messed up :lol

I am hoping in the sequels they don't go the trite "Oh no someone killed my mate I am now declaring war!" as the reason for the takeover. They surprised me on the way they handled the "rise" and escape.

Knowing how heavy those manhole covers are... holy ****. That scene was awesome.

The stinger was pretty well done also. Helps open up the sequels very well.

Terrific movie, and one I am going to own when it comes out on blu ray.

Chris

Somehow, I think it would be next to impossible to get Burton to admit any of his movies sucked. :lol
