Just as Ongiri stated, I just was mentioning it because in a earlier post Vivek, hope I spelled it right was saying why don't they release the film everywhere on the same day and I agreed stating that by the 1st week someone will put a pirated copy online. And why would you want to see a crappy version of a good movie? I'm going 11 a.m New York time to see it hopefully everyone doesn't have the same idea and forget Manhattan if you don't buy the tickets online the 1st shows will be sold out damn tourists! Lol.

Yeah, please delete. Asking for an illegal copy of the movie hours before domestic release is a blemish on an otherwise spectacular thread.

When Shaw is giving birth to the "prototype" facehugger, that will later catch then inseminate the Engineer, thus creating the Alien Queen based on the Engineer appaerance ? It's the beginning of the whole specie !
My small crit : Useless characters willing to die for nothing, stupid situations from 90's moviemaking, no thrills. Boring. Wasted opportunity. A beautiful movie to watch... not a good script to follow. Too much stuff explained, whereas the main question is never answered.

Some bits of course were embarassingly silly, improbable or just plain preposterous. Which is pretty much how I felt when I saw Blade Runner. :rolleyes
But still, well worth the time and I look forward to seeing it again! I'll be studying the production design for a long time to come.

So, am I to assume that this movie negates AVP etc? That the Xenos are a newly invented species and not millenia old as depicted elsewhere? Or is that just assumptive on the part of some folks here. Do you know these are 'proto' facehuggers and xenos for a fact or could they just be an all new breed?
Except for the fact...
...that the engineer didn't die in the chair! It's not the same guy. Also... the planet they are on is NOT LV426 but LV226 (or was it 3..?) The thing we saw birthed in the final scene looked pretty far from the Queen we all know and crap bricks when meeting.... even if she were just a baby. It's kinda obvious that the film started out as a direct prequel but that they changed course mid-production, perhaps to make room for those sequels Scott has been talking about...)
And yeah, this film pretty much makes the whole AVP series non-canon...

Damon: I count myself as an Alien superfan, which for me covers Alien and Aliens, not that the other movies were terrible, I would just say I am a superfan of those two movies.

Regards the bigger facehugger, yes that and various other discarded ideas from the original ALIEN show up here. If you have read "Giger's ALIEN Film Design" or the "Book of ALIEN" you have seen the breast-shaped pyramids, wall of lifecycle heiroglyphics, and other elements that will seem familiar in PROMETHEUS.
