Ridley Scott Prometheus: NOT the Alien Prequel Details

The dark twin of 2001 without doubt. The question of why humanity has been designed by the Engineers is the essential core of the plot. I note with some interest that the term (engineering) can mean the application of science for the control and use of power by machines , or someone who designs and constructs military works amoungst others . Which???? But its obvious they have a very specific plan for humanity and that it doesn't look like its an invitation to celebrate a nice coming together of civilizations, more a sort of the ripping apart!!! (for which I am grateful).
There also seems to be a significant part of the story thats missing from the trailer.Quote:

Thats a fair part of the film and yet I've seen nothing that indicates any underwater scenes in the trailers. Sir RS said he's kept alot out of plain sight and I can believe it.
And the 3D is very immersive and clear. I saw the trailer with the Avengers and god it looked good!!! Everyone sat there in some sort of stunned silence then burst into chatter when it finished. I hope there is a midnight showing somewhere close.

I was reading an article in Empire and it said there was on old man that nobody would talk about on board and that Vickers has a "personal connection/interest" in two of the members on board.
The cast seemed to be tight lipped about it. I am guessing the "old guy" is Weyland.
He's probably on board in the hopes that he can find a "fountain of youth" type restoration from the engineers. As far as the other personal connection, I'm not sure who/what that might be. Maybe something about David. Maybe he is modelled after someone she knows or someone she knew who has passed on?
So, I guess Fox released some audio from Prometheus. The original audio was a jumble of audio forward and backward. Someone took the trouble of trying to take the audio and correct it. It's said that Vickers is related to two people on the ship, and we've tossed around the possibilities of David and PW, not to mention if Vickers is a driod herself. I with the folks who believe that there are actually two Davids. If any of you played the Verizon game, she had that med pod in her room, I'm betting that's PW. No idea if David was created after someone that Vickers knew (husband/brother etc) but if there's 2, which who wouldn't want a personal assistant to watch over PW, and of course a back up if needed. That also goes along with what one of you said about PW being on board looking for the foutain of youth. I don't know if I'm remembering this correctly or not, but that helmet David wears, it's allows him to monitor vitals and what not, but doesn't it allow him to peer into dreams etc? If so, perhaps he's downloading the day-to-day happenings ro PW. ?
