Ridley Scott Prometheus: NOT the Alien Prequel Details

Its the new albino eel thingy that bursts out of the dead Jockey head, a few frames on you can see its head. I'm worried now as these things get everywhere, someone mentioned Dreamcatcher esq? Seems likely?

I think the film was given away pretty early on to be honest, seeing the ships collide is a big part of the film and would not be expected if not in the trailers, I'm more gutted about seeing this kinda stuff as opposed to Jockey action. I doubt very much we've seen all there is yet though and we still haven't seen a Jockey up close.

Saying that though this is a big budget movie with a lot at stake and they have to get people through the door or its by by P2...... and who wants that?

I also cant help myself, I'm a spoiler addict.

I figure that I'll probably see the film 1000 times anyway. I doubt the spoilers will kill my enjoyment of the movie.

Yes....:cool
This latest trailer seems to add credibility to this theory but it's something that another member originally suggested here a few pages back.

His leg work, his theory and supported with images backing this theory. Pretty compelling thought...which not only made sense to me at the time but now with what we're seeing...I'd say even more so.:thumbsup

Credit to that member for posting it in the first place...sorry, don't remember who it was but it's a few pages back.(y)thumbsup:thumbsup

David, I think you're refering to a post I did on page 51 of this thread... but the photos were posted (and still are) on propsummit !
Here is the link again for those interested in pictures (scroll down to 6th post to see them) :

Anyway, thanks a lot for your kind words !

:)

BTW, if I refer to the 2 screencaps posted above by Jason (and to go a little further in my theory about the Alien origins), it looks like, OK, a "thing" is still alive in this severed Space Jockey head... now, if you think about what looks like a tiny "Cobra facehugger" in Holloway's eye... Well, it looks like those parasites inhabit their hosts' heads...
If I follow this thought, I doubt these "Space Jockey's parasites" will have enough room to develop properly into a human skull, I guess they'll have to extend / expand it one way or another.
If the red haired guy really is what more and more looks like a proto Alien I guess the rear of his skull will grow at a certain point in the film (his mohawk already reminds me of the "spine" spotted atop the Alien skull seen in Sir Rid's original film !)

:love

Same here^. I honestly wish and hope that I could reallllly start seeing more trailers on TV though. We're only about a month away and seriously, althought I don't spend hours on end in front of a tv, I have yet to see a single one! :( I think most of our hope is that this film does well enough, both to our own expectations and the box office, to perhaps warrant a second film. No way that'll happen if no one comes to see it.

I love all the small stuff in what we've been able to see. The window that changes scenery in vickers room. Yeah-want! And David riding around in what looks like a gym throwing basketballs?.. I guess what else would you do with a couple years to yourself, right? The look of this film just keeps getting better. Spoilers? Eh, maybe, but bring it. Can't wait to see this film.

I love all the small stuff in what we've been able to see.

The only thing bothering me about the trailers is the notion of Weyland/Vickers having a bigger security team, and the security team being better armed and being able to handle a mutated crew member easily.

There is no question in my mind that they would have heavily armed security and they would be very capable of clearing a cargo bay of 10 or 12 mutated crew members if needed. I also think they would be able to blow the jockey ship out of the air with the push of a button.

But that's a reaction to the trailer. In the context of the story, that stuff is not likely to bother me.

I didn't freeze frame it but was 90% sure that was the head from the jockey helmet blowing up. Same background, reaction shot of the scientists matches etc. UGH. The fuuuu?!? Wonderful!

That was cool, but too much. I think it's time for me to stop watching the trailers and this thread until I see the film now.

Ditto. I've been wondering if Ridley and the marketing department have developed a collective case of loose cannon syndrome or what! But this may be a perfectly rational and planned reaction to the failure of John Carter. If so, maybe we really can expect that bit too much info.

Yup! It sure was. Thanks again for posting that, pretty radical theory but I can see it.
Way too soon to say for sure but I love the idea suggested.

I believe, from what I saw in the trailer, that they are totally unprepared for what they encounter. From Vickers little "if anything is down there" speech. Just her tone seems to indicate that she feels this is a BIG waste of time, and she doesn't think their going to find anything. I could see her not wanting to go, but doing so because she was ordered to. If she had any say in the mission, having the mind set that their not going to find anything, down playing the need for heavy weapons, not only for the crew, but if the ship is an "exploration" ship, and the only life forms know are other humans, why would they need a defense system for the ship.

On the other hand you have Shaw, who believes these beings left invitations for a visit all over Earth. If they think that these beings are just going to waiting for them with open arms, they have no reason to defend themselves.

In any case, any ship, boat, space, should be carrying a stash of weapons, in case of emergency. A crew member goes nuts, and needs to be subdued, mutiny, ect....but along that line of thinking, you're defending yourself against your own kind, so a hand gun, or a rifle should suffice.

Now throw in some genetically engineered life forms that want to rip your face off, lay eggs in you brain, and live in your body cavity..... and let the fun ensue!

The star maps and gaps between the civilizations they are found in are interesting. Magdalenian (15,000 BC) were hunter gathers. Mesopotamian (5300 BC) said to be the origin of the myth of the Garden of Eden and the cradle of civilization. Then Aztec (1300 AD). Yet apparently no mention of our current one. Multiple visits to the Earth at periods through out our (pre) and present history by the Engineers. For what reason? Samples? Corrections? Additions? Why is humanity and the continuation of its development and civilisation upto enabling space travel of value to them when they already fly between the stars?
The Head chamber with the ampules containing exactly what in them ??? Corpses scattered on the floor suggesting already failed "conversion" experiments? What purpose does that serve ? If "a king reigns and then he dies" what does he need to do to ensure his resurrection?
In just thirty days from now some of us will know!

Face it, CT - the von Daniken aspect of the plot just isn't going to make any sense and will be meat for fan retconning for decades. :)

But the film had me at head-explodey. :lol

I thought the idea is that the engineers engineered us. So I guess that would give them a reason to visit us, to see how we're getting on maybe :confused

Alternativly, I'm sure I read somewhere that theres some sort of time travel in the film & maybe the human race was started as a result of the events shown in the film??

Don't you think that all of that security isn't for the crew as much as it is for Peter Weyland's dead body (which may or may not be on the ship)

It's been said that Vickers has a "personal" connection to the mission.

Far fetched.. Maybe it's his daughter, or she's an AP like David, whom PW calls his son (w/o a soul). Perhaps it could be why they have that experimental device that allows them to restimulate dead brain cells to bring someone back to life for a bit. I thought I actually saw PW in a suit in one of the rooms (alive) I know Im totally wrong and I think it's just another actor that looks a bit like Guy, so I'll have to go back and watch that new featurette.

scratch the last bit above, I rewatched it and it's milburn. He does sound and look like guy in that particular scene, but it's not. :/ Didn't make sense, but I wasn't ruling anything out either.

Ah yes, this is the plot of "2001: a space odyssey." :facepalm

One thing though, it's evident from the footage we've seen (assuming that it hasn't been recut to deliberately mislead us), that the Juggernaut ship is taking off to go to Earth at some point in the film.. which is why Prometheus rams it, where upon it falls from the sky and rolls.

Apparently letting that ship reach Earth would be a Bad™ thing.
