All this talk about alien has got me interested in the Alien pistols again. Is the tip from a welder? If so, what kind? I found this image, but no info:

I am actually in the process of making an all-Nostromo version of this pistol, though I've just moved into a new place and will need a little time to get all my stuff sorted out and up and running.
