Reves Superman suit which options do I have???

I have not yet asked about this. I'm still waiting to be stimulated by Mr. Bush. (yes, I meant it how it sounded, and yes it is strange that it's a "Mister" bush).

I'm saving up for a house (after I get transferred to Atlanta hopefully later this year), so discretionary spending has been limited to lower priced items... other than the puppy I'm picking up on June 17th when she's old enough to come home! (different thread to be posted in the OT section later)

I just sent them an email asking if the suit can still be made to Chris' (gorgeous) specifications. I'll let you guys know what they say!

Maybe (depending on when you guys are planning on getting them) we can see if there is a bulk order discount. If not, it would at least save on international shipping.

Hey Douglas,

I´m in contact with them for about one week now and they also asked Chris if they would be allowed to make a suit for me that was done like Chris personal suit. So the result is yes they maybe could do it and Chris gave them his O.K. only with a litle change on the emblem they told me. So in the moment they are looking for the correct material like they used on the suit from Chris and they would let me know in a view days.

Greetings Guido

That's great Guido! Thanks for the info! What change on the emblem did they mention having to do?

I just received a reply from them as well - they sent me a link to their site with the "deluxe" 70's style costume which includes the sewn-in logo. It doesn't include Chris' other modifications from what I can tell (longer trunks, better blue color). They did say that the fabric was unavailable a year ago but that they do get some "closer" fabrics and they'd be willing to look for Chris' fabric again. My main concern with this costume as shown is actually in the "S" symbol, which is even more of a red light since you mentioned that they said it would be the one difference from Chris' pattern. The "S" on their deluxe costume page looks MUCH too wide. Here's the page with the pictures:

http://actioncostumes.com/product_max.php?id=71

I replied asking if this was something that could be addressed, and if they might be able to do the longer trunks again - and pair this costume with a Dean Cain styled cape (I like the pure yellow "S" on the back). I'll let you know what they say!

I got a response, and I think all they're saying about the logo is that Chris' final design is a custom for his final suit, and he owns that and it's his proprietary version - the one they offer is actually Chris' as well, just an earlier one. I don't have an issue with the logo they're using at all, just the size as it appears in these pictures. Dialogue is ongoing, I'm going to see if they can address that at all!

Hey Douglas,

wow you got quick answears from them. I´m still waiting on an answear from Sebastián now for 2 days on my questions to the differnce in the logo. That´s a litle bit strange why I did not get any back answear???

I would be interested in a CK version Reeves suit as well. Perhaps if we can get our orders in together we can secure a discount? I would actually be just needing the suit itself, no need for the belt, cape and boots.

Hey again,

so I also got news from Sebastián this night. So Douglas maybe it would be possible for you to contact him again and ask him if we were 4 persons that would order a Supes suit maybe we would get a discount on them??? My english is not the best so I thoght maybe you could take the lead on that if you like?

Guys,

I doubt there will be a discount. The workmanship required to sew the emblem INTO the blue fabric is pretty skilled and consequently, the price they charge covers their costs as well as the money they need to pay for the seamstress to do it.

Their work is top quality though.

Chris

I agree Chris - I've owned a Southern Wings suit before. That one didn't even have a sewn-in symbol and I was very impressed with its construction. The price they're asking is extremely fair. On top of that, I've been discussing many customizations with them and they've said they wouldn't charge extra to do ANY of those - or to work with me to find a blue lycra I'm happy with, sending pictures back and forth etc. To be honest, I wouldn't feel comfortable asking them for a discount from this price because I believe the pricing is almost generous given the custom nature and quality of the work involved... I don't mind working as a group, however. I'll keep you guys posted on the fabrics they can offer, and anything else that should come up during the construction process... I don't know that any of you would want to follow all the customizations that I intend to make, but I'm sure we would have shared opinions on many of the decisions.

Hey Douglas,

I sent you a PM because I would like to discuss the changes here and there directly with you.

Douglas,

I do not think I will be able to pay for the entire suit at this time, but I do want to purchase a Christopher Reeve Style cape. Since you are already in contact with them, could you inquire as to how much the cape alone would cost?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris,

Their capes are $200 when purchased separately, I think. At least the Dean Cain styled cape I inquired about was - I think that pricing applies to the Reeve capes as well.

Hello folks. Ive been folowing this thread and others regarding the Reeve suit. Because im starting my own business, I havent had much time to invest the time into my project suit but I do have extensive research in hand. I thougth id throw this out to you guys and see if we can find a way to make this work. I have a personal friend who has been a seamstress for over 40 years and I can honestly say shes the best I have ever seen. I cant rave enough about her work as EVERYTHING she makes looks like its been made by the best! Her work literally looks like a precision machine made it. I can also say there hasnt been anything she has not been able to do and I have asked her to do alot. She and I are working on the ultimate Boushh costume and she has nailed every task (where others have failed) I have asked her to do with flying colors. I can say without a doubt that she can make a superman suit that is as accurate as the movie suit with outstanding quality for a lower price than the two makers that have been discussed previously. Chris has been VERY kind and helpfull. Along with his help as well as the help of anyone else who can conrtibute, im sure my seamstress can prevail with a superman costume for each one of us. Like I said, I dont have much time to invest in this so if anyone can nail down a mutually agreed upon fabric to make the suit as well as contribute any other vital information, I can offer a price that is lower than the two other competitors. Just thought Id throw this out there to see what kind of interest there there is. My motivation for this is primarily to procure myself with a superman costume with out putting countless hours into more research given my current schedule. Let me know what you all think.

Hey Scott,

it´s nice to know that you have such a good seamstress in your back and I also would have no problem if the price would be lower, but the problem I personal would have is that I absolutly could not help your seamstress with any infos or something she would need to create that suit.
Action-Costumes has made a lot of these suits and they have all infos they need and what I saw from them till now was absolutly fantastic produced. So for that kind of work with a personal made suit to my size I would say the price sounds absolutly fair for me.

Greetings Guido

Good news - Action Costumes (hero walk, southern wings) found the same fabric they used for Chris King's stunning replica! Here's an image they sent me this morning:

I just sent my order in to Sebastián - I'm looking forward to working with him to make an ideal suit! I'll keep you all posted!
