Hey again,

no one with any infos were I maybe could get a good Superman suit???

Greetings Guido

There's always Action Costumes or whatever (used to be "Southern Wings" I think) on eBay. They make a very "decent" Reeve costume ("80's style, they call it) for a good price. The biggest problem with it is that it's too bright/royal blue. Also, the logo's not sewn into the tunic, but you're gonna pay a lot to have that kind of work done properly. It's a nice costume for the money.

If you source something closer, please let us know! Good luck!

They offer a version with the logo sewn in also. It costs about twice as much (~$1,000).

check over at the LOH boards. There is a guy there GreenArrowFL that makes amazing sups suits ala REEVES. He does amazing work for fair prices.

www.the-magic-wardrobe.com does a fantastic Chris Reeve costume. But it's really pricey so be warned. They did my Kirk Alyn suit so if I'm confused and you're after the George Reeves instead I'm sure they could put a great version of that together but it would be a custom comission.

GOOG ****ING GOD! Youre not kidding about their prices!!! Their prices on the Boushh costume are astronomical!!! The suit isnt even movie accurate which would justify the price.. Yikes. :eek
On the other hand though, the quality of their work IS excellent.

The quality is excellent. But then again at this price range you're getting totally custom wearable garments- not just costume pieces. As for Boush costume I have less knowledge about SW/ROTJ costumign but if you wanted some details altered to makeit more screen accurate they are more than willing to accomodate you. It's custom for your measurements so they want to make you happy. Also if you want to source fabric yourself so you're happy with that- they'll accept that as well.

But yes it's a wholly different level of costuming. Bascially what the studios pay to make thier costumes for production.

I know that for boots/ or helmets/ hats they outsource and then mark it up for the convience of being a one-stop shop so to save money it's best to get these elements elsewhere.

Anyway the Op wanted options- that's the main one I know short of what crops up on ebay from time to time for a Superman.

For their prices, I wouldn't pay because the color is off- they are using your normal matted blue spandex. The real thing is somewhat teal and has a slight sheen.

I haven't done major research into the Chris Reeve costume - but what shots show this? In the film or certain stills? Or exhibition/museum pics?

Anyway good point but also for those prices it's also well within your options to ask them to find a better spandex for you or accept whatever spandex you can find that's a better match. None of these are 'off-the-rack' items.

Man, i wish i could sew up a piece of C*&p and charge those kind of prices. Are they serious?! Do people actually purchase from them?

Here's a photo showing my costume which was beautifully created by Action Costumes (Southern Wings) using patterns prepared by me after literally years of research, trial and error - not to mention invaluable help from my friend Martin (GELForever).
I was lucky enough to see Propstore's original Reeve costume which is currently on display at The Movieum in London. I was thrilled to see that my fabric choices were almost exact to the colour of the real costume. The fabric type of the real costume was custom made and is no longer produced. It is therefore impossible to get a truly accurate replica of the fabric type, so I opted to get mine as close as possible regarding the colour and details.

Please note that I opted for a slightly different chest emblem design on my costume - I matched it to the costume Reeve wears in the desert scenes towards the end of Superman the Movie. I also went for the slightly longer shorts.

That's a nice looking repro of the Reeve costume. Does Action Costumes/Southern Wings offer it to other cutomers? if so do you know what thier price range is?

As I posted above, action costumes/southern wings now goes by the_hero_walk on ebay. They offer a version with the emblem on top of the fabric for around $500 (boots not included). They offer a version with the emblem sewn in for around $1000 (boots included). I haven't inquired about the Chris King version for some time, but I was last quoted at around $1100.

I owned a sourthern wing Reeves Superman costume and I thought it was pretty amazing quality. I cannot comment on the accuracy but it was really nice and built very well.

Hey again,

so ty very much for all these infos from you all and now it´s absolutly not easy for me as the options I got from you all are absolutly great and it´s not easy to say in the moment which route I would try to go.

The stuff from magic-wardrobe looks also absolutly nice but wow that is realy a lot of cash they would like to get for there so called movie like suit.

The Action Costumes (Southern Wings) movie like suit looks to me in the moment the best option I would have in an also payable way. As for this Chris one more question to you if this would be allowed. Would it be possible if I would contact them to call them about your suit reference for the color and style. Would they be allowed to produce the suit for me the same way they did for you?

Greetings Guido

Thanks guys.

Guido - you can contact them directly and just mention me to them. I know that they had problems finding that blue fabric a year ago, so they may not be able to get it now. It doesn't hurt to ask them though.

Has anyone contacted them about this yet? I'd like to, but I don't want to flood their inbox with requests for something they can't offer anymore... If no one's tried them yet, I'll send a message tonight and see if they can still do Chris' version!
