Replica TOS Phaser at Smithsonian

I don't think "StarTrek101" will be posting in this thread again. :lol

Maybe it was donated by Mark English?

The ME's looked a lot more convincing than that one, I think they would have been better off with one of those. :lol:lol:lol.

Am I mistaken or has that been repainted and a nozzle added since it was donated???
Did someone try to make it look a little better (although the chip is still in the bottom of the handle so maybe the lighting is making it look weird in the old photo)?

The bottom line is that it is a piece of crap and anyone who thinks it is the real thing does not know anything about Star Trek.

:lol I remember those days! :lol

You guys have no idea the conversations that went on over those phaser and communicator drawings in the tech manual.

Even back then people wouldn't listen no matter what you showed them.

I see this piece of crap often as I take my kids there often. One thing I do not see is anything that says that its the real thing. No one says its a fake either, and it is presented as real. I think it is as someone said above, they just don't care.

Oh boy, that even applies to the starships in that manual. Most of those designs are laughable.

Was that phaser donated? Or is it what was happening to props many years ago, it was swapped(I'm only kidding).

What else would we expect from a government agency.
