Repainting Two NECA - GREMLiNS 2: Gremlin Stunt Puppet Prop Replicas (Brown + Green Variant)

Thank you very much!

Considering modding it yourself maybe? ;)
Would be great to see others have a go at repainting these guys.

I know Mike Thomas of KreationX (and TSD) is doing a bunch of repaints atm.
He's going for the green version and is going to install glass eyes. Excited to see how those turn out.

Later this year NECA is going to release a green version themselves - I'm thinking about ordering that one, and if the paintjob is of the same standard as on the brown one, I'll have another repaint thread to show for sure :)

Great modifications. I even liked the look of the puppet before but since i saw your mods i know how much can be done to make it a lot better. Great work:)

Nice job mate!! Looks a hell of a lot better than it did when you first got him. I really like how you have added the extra detail on him as well like the veins on his stomach & increase detail of the horns. When I saw the pic where you hadn't painted in the pupils I thought wow that looked demonic and very cool :D
Once again great job you have done :D

Thanks a lot mate!

I really wanted to do it right, and some areas I had to adress a few times to get it to a state where I was satisfied. The 'horns' on the original bothered me a lot, aside from heavy bleeding, the color was way off and they didn't look realistic - with the new better defined lines, weathering and the smooth surface, I think they're closer to what is seen on screen..

Hehe, yeah the eyes at that state made him look creepy and very demonic :D

That looks absolutely stunning! I have the Neca dancing Gizmo for my son but after seeing this, I think I'll have to get one of these...and attempt a paint up such as yours. It's brilliant :)

Thanks,
And good luck with the learning. I've practiced my painting/dry brushing skills a bit on some smaller sculptures I did some years ago, and kind of got the hang of it. Painting a big thing like this was new though, and I learned a few things in the process. Trying to replicate realistic skin and nails/horns was bit of a challenge, and I was a bit worried to start with, with the materials I had available and my lack of experience and all. But the urge to get this paintjob just right made me do my absolute best.. and it seems you guys think I did a pretty good job, so I couldn't be happier :)

That is a sweet paint job man.I'm still learning to dry brush!Love the work though!:)

Thanks! :D

Great to hear that I've inspired you to try and do the same. I'm sure you'll be very happy with him once you've done it. Be sure to post the outcome here, if you decide to get one..

Does anyone know of a good place to get steel or aluminum plaques made?
I've looked at a few online plaque shops, but wanted to hear if someone here could recommend a place. I've made these in InDesign/Illustrator, still need to make a few adjustments, but they're vector-based and should be a walk in the park to produce.

Looks like NECA have upped the quality of the paint job a tiny bit on the green version - buuuut I think I'll be repainting that one too :cool If I decide to buy it.

It's obviously the same puppet, just another color-scheme. Would have been great if they could've gotten hold of one of the other puppets, to get some variety in shape :) But it's really cool that they're even releasing these replicas, I've been wanting a life-size gremlin since I was a kid, so I can't really compalin.

Pastor Jedi is your man... Gotten several from him recently and they are top notch. Quick turnaround and great pricing too.

MOD EDIT: Junkyard link removed.

You're welcome Mike ;)

That's a cool shot, a bit creepy with those empty eye sockets.. :lol

It's nice to see these great replicas getting the paint job they deserve. I'm very excited to see how they'll look with the glass eyes installed and everything. And I'm especially excited to see how you're going to replicate all the unique features of the green gremlins. Are you basing the paint-scheme on any particular gremlin in the movie?

You should definitely keep one for yourself :cool

Best of luck with the project,
Kasper
