Reindeer Puppet

Hey fellow RPFers,

Not sure if this is the correct thread, but I've been working on this guy for about two weeks now and just wanted to show him off and get some criticism. This is my first puppet, and although he didn't turn out exactly how I had hoped, I'm pretty happy with him as a first attempt. This guy will be used for my work where we will be doing a live call-in and talk with Santa show. So, fire away...and thanks.

Thanks for the compliment. Should I be worried though that there are 51 views and only 1 reply?

I think it looks great. Damned fine job. :thumbsup

I think it looks fantastic. Honestly, I think I would remove the "bridal", but that's just me. It shows off more of his face.

Thanks guys.

Funky - his bridal is hiding some bad areas for me, which can't be seen in the photograph or on camera...phew. :)

Nah, maybe people weren't too talkative and just popped in for a look. :p

I'm neither a reindeer or a puppet expert (or even a novice for that matter), but I do have a suggestion... maybe expose a little more of the black part of the eyes. With the heavy lids he looks a little sleepy or stoned. Unless that's the look you're going for. ;)

But, I have to say that I think it looks pretty good overall.

Thanks guys.

Tk421 - yes, he's supposed to be somewhat dim, so the eyes are that way on purpose. :) But thanks for the suggestion.

I was thinking wise or dim. :lol

Again, great Job for the first time he has character and does not look like just a puppet..

Very good work. I showed the picture to my 7 year old and he was impressed. He wanted to know if it could fly though...

Not to veer too far off topic, but I just read that the Atlanta Georgia Museum for Puppetry Arts will be exhibiting the fully restored original Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer and Santa puppets from the Rankin/Bass stop motion classic movie we all grew up loving. The exhibit opens December 8th and runs thru January 7th. If you are a die hard fan, don't miss this one.

Dave :)

That would be something awesome to see. If only I lived closer to Atlanta. Maybe someone will get pictures and such.

And yes, through the magic of television, Render the Reindeer, will be able to fly. :)
