The old rules only apply to the old owners. As soon as the guns were resold (let´s say i´m no more interested in any of my deacs), they have to be treated according to the new laws.

I agree much better than what we get, I was going to say why would the US make things even worse for us. I have the Apex kit you mentioned, I just have to learn to weld/ braze. I also picked up a Dday CNC pipe (which is awesome)
_Lee_ congrats on the purchase, like everyone has mentioned you won;t regret it. Personally,I would go with authentic parts on as many as you can find, even if it takes a lot longer to finish. What version are you thinking of making it? (ANH, ESB, ROTJ etc)

If he get´s cought it´s no small offence like wrong parking or overspeeding. So i think it´s not the best idea to talk him into it.

More than that. They have to be cut and welded to the new (since april) specs, and then get inspected for a new certificate that they comply to these now valid specs.
I assume that´s why they are offered that cheap, he want´s to get rid of them fast before every potential buyer knows that.
Oh wow, didn't realize that's what you meant. A lot different than here in the states, usually the laws only apply to items made after the day the law went into effect. I have so many questions now but don't think this thread is the place to ask.

Usually it´s the same here. It was that way when the last time old spec was changed to new spec.
But now the changes are more drastically. Terrorists everywhere make it easier to launch stupid laws. :lol

Responsible shops that didn´t want to bring trouble to their customers have cleared their storage before that date - or are now making the machining and cert. for the new rules on the old guns, and selling then for higher prices (more work involved).
It wouldn´t be funny for sure when their books were checked randomly, and then your name is found as a buyer after the 8th April.

There is a small chance for them being old spec -even at these prices- since they´re coming from a private collector, who wants to get rid of all.

Lichtbringer is correct. A shop MUST NOT sell any old-spec deactived weapon(s), unless the want to risk loosing their license!
BUT it is still legal to buy/ trade old-spec deacs between private collectors, that´s what makes lee´s contact -given that it IS a private collector- so interesting :cool

Ive just spoken to one of 2 Proof houses who have advised me on this. Basically i will need the guy to get it recertificated at a cost of £35 and then he can legally sell it to me. So even after that its still a good deal. I even asked about markings etc and they said they will mark the barrel, chamber etc to ensure it comes upto standard. The one im looking to buy has a 2015 cert from the same people so it should end well
