Randy Cooper 38" Star Destroyer Kit

Randy said to apologize for the crudity of the model.
It is a rush job just to get the procedure for making the instructions.:eek

He hopes to spend some quality time with it later in the year.

Personally,..I thought that it looked like the ILM model in a few of the pics. WOW!

BTW, notice how the GREY primer looks white when exposed to direct sunlight and photographed.
Welcome to the world of miniature FX.
This is why there is so much debate as to what color some models "really" are.
Often a modeler has to paint the miniature one color to achieve another on film.

Yes I noticed a few "gaps here and there and I attributed it exactly to what Randy's excuse was - Heck the pics are only a couple of days apart... and there was obviously a lot of building and painting happening there...

No apologies needed for me :cool But if he's unhappy with it I could be willing to take it off his hands:love

That is amazing. Is this available yet for those that did not get on the pre-order list. I don't want to miss this.

Sorry only the pre-order people can get them.

Just kidding. :lol

I will probably be making an announcement as to the next run of SD/Avengers next week.

We are trying to get all the pre-order folks orders squared away before adding to Randys workload.

Stay tuned!

Great! I am looking forward to order when you start the list for the next run.:)

Exactly... When you come across something this cool you find a place...

I've got a few ideas...
  1. Hanging over the Door to my office so that when I enter the room I reenact the opening scened from ANH...
  2. Create a "shelf" roughly the same size and shape as my MR falcon base and pose it directly above...
  3. Squaring off against my MR Enterprise on the top of my office desk...
  4. Hanging in place of a chandalier above my dining room table.
  5. Build a new "display case" next to my modeling shop to display my big pieces...
Right now numbers 1 and 5 are running neck and neck... the most practical is 5 - the silliest and therefore most appealing - number 1 :lol

I like your ideas, but wouldnt number 1 be the intro scene to ANH in reverse? If you face the model away from the entry door, you walk in seeing the rear of the model first, rather than the underside of the nose. If you face it toward your entrance, you see the nose first but its headed the opposite direction. I suppose you could either walk into the room backwards while the model faces the doorway, or you could simply re-enact the scene by walking out of the room in reverse if the model faced away from the door. Hehehe.
I think its the wrong scale for the MR Enterprise too. That would look okay though, because they're similar in size. If I can afford to get one of these kits I am going to. I just haven't figured out where to PUT it. Thats going to be a tough call. You have good ideas though.

Well my plans for displaying this beast are going to be building up a new shelf above my 42in TV and adding a plexiglass front so that if my son decides to lauch a torpedeo at it that it will have its own shield generator:eek

I'm gonna build a custom base and get a display case dome, then either put it on a group of pedestals as a base or get a cabinet built to put it on. It will be across from the Falcon display which will be on the opposite side of my prop room.

Uh:confused, someone may have already asked...when is the next run, I want to be buried with it.:love Please LMK.:thumbsup

Peace

All we know is soon. He's finishing up pre-orders... I just got asked for my mailing address, so I expect it in a couple weeks. Then I assume he'll start taking orders for the regular run. It might take him awhile.... lots of people have expressed interest and he is a one man show. Not an easy casting job. Lots o' pieces.

:) happy for you mate. I am sure you will enjoy this kit as much as you enjoyed the suspense in waiting and the anticipation of receiving it.

I hope I can lay my hands on such a nice model kit in the near future:redface... then the cleaning, assembly, priming, airbrushing, weathering....:love

Peace

Actually I had it correct in number one. As you get closer to the doorway looking into the room the first thing to be "uncovered" by the door frame will be the nose fo the ship the farthest into the room asn as you enter more of the ship is revealed... Of couse I'd ahve to walk "REALLY" slow to get the effect :lol... I guess you'd be right if there was no door frame/wall blocking the direct view into the room...

Jedi Dade

Ahhhhhh! I see what you mean now. The door frame reveals the ship from nose to tail as you walk in. Thats pretty cool.

This is an awesome model guys. It is definitely one of the ones I'd have flipped my lid over as a kid. I love big capital ships.
