R2D2 Build

Hmm, Good to hear. I might have a little problem with the rear surround.. I widened the hole a bit too far, and it's going to be a tight fit to get both screws in place. Either that, or I'll have to have one screw in right, and leave the other side swinging free..

Just read this, how big did you cut that hole out? It would have to be almost an inch too wide for the screws not to fit :confused. Do you have a pic of what this looks like? Maybe you can fix it.

It was a tad wider than I wanted it to be....I MIGHT be able to work it out.. we'll find out in a few mintues..

I got everything to fit, and I'm taking no chances on this thing moving during the drilling process....

thanks to the pictures mr.phez provided, I now have all the surrounds installed, although granted, I might have the screws going in the wrong way. I'm HOPING the replacement board and chips gets here tommorow so I can start trouble shooting the lights..

Two hours of blood sweat and fears later, I hope everything looks good. If I don't need a voltage regulator to test the lights, I hope to try it out soon..

Just come back to post some photos but you got it sorted! Fast work fella! Looking good you'll be catching me up at this rate!?

Almost 6 hours into soldering, on and off...and STILL not near the finish line. I'm going to try and get fifteen more done then lunch.

after double checking to make sure no pins where connecting, I fired it up, and still success! I hope to never have to do that ever again! ;o). Now on to the easier four!

The light board looks good. It's coming together isn't it.

yessir... it won't look as smooth as some other builds, but for a first attempt it's not coming out that bad.

Might have a chance to score some power couplers, we'll see how that turns out. if it does, I'll only need side vents, front vents, coin returns and utility arms to complete the body. Hoping at least half of those can be found in resin to save money.

Nice work man, moving right along, is that the Arduino powered board you're using on the rear display?

yep, the mini...

Well, at least I know both work. but, odly enough, I thought for sure that the lights where going properly when I had the cable pluged to the Out on the RLD and In on the FLD. When I found out it was supposed to be the reverse, we get this..

edit - solution found :)
