R2 1/350 TOS Enterprise build!

Thanks again so much guys! I really appreciate the compliments. :) Here are two side views, some shots of the grid lines, and a beauty shot I liked. :thumbsup

Thanks for posting those, Bryan. Your nacelles look pretty level. And those grid lines look just fine, not too in-your-face.

You gotta get the kit now, Proper! Bryan's posts should have whetted your appetite by now. Mine arrived last week but I couldn't get myself to slit the plastic wrap open - the box itself looks too good - it's a work of art. You know how rc buffs do it - they get one for running, another one as a shelf queen, and still another to preserve unopened. I don't have the cash but I would've bought two. :)

Great job on this Bryan. The white windows look awesome and the orange looks really good on the end caps.

Yeah, sure does wanna make me take a crack at her. But I have very little modeling experience—the last time I built and painted a kit was about 20 years ago! No, unfortunately I lack the skills to do this Polar lady any justice at all. Still, I did pre-order the premiere edition which i now have but she's probably gonna stay sealed as an in-the-box "shelf queen." I have the Master Replicas lady to ogle over.

I also have the very near-to-scale Botany Bay resin kit unbuilt. That one I might attempt to build someday and display next to the MR Enterprise. Maybe that would get my courage up.

Since we're on this topic , several years ago in another forum (can't remeber exactly when) this was a heated discussion. Yes, Proper, you are right... the MR did have some small droop detected. I posted my MR Enterprise on that forum to illustrate my situation (nacelle centerline versus saucer horizontal plane)

By the way, and I apologize for belaboring the point so much but it's by greatest pet peeve with any TOS Enterprise model, here is my Photoshop study that shows my Master Replicas E nacelles at 1º off level (according to the transform tool calibration). Toggle between Previous and Next on the images to see the precise difference: http://www.therpf.com/f10/master-replicas-star-trek-u-s-s-102391/index2.html

The measurable difference is slight, but the visual effect is more considerable.

From one modeler to another - job well done! A perfect example of how well this kit can look built straight out of the box, with lots of love!

They have never really bothered me too much on any iteration of this model, to be honest. I just enjoy building them. If I wanted screen accurate I would buy a MR Enterprise. I'm not a super skilled modeler but I am alway happy with my results no matter how amateurish. Thus it's very easy to live with the imperfections, thanks. :thumbsup

Best comment in this thread, well done Bryan.
