R2 1/350 TOS Enterprise build!

Mine is on the way from the US to Australia - hopefully it will arrive next week..

The numbers on the boxes are all the same; it's the number on the certificate inside that is important to anyone who cares about such things.
 
Barcode number is just for scanning with checkout registers and that number will be the same on ALL the kits. For the "collector" that wants a virgin sealed kit, the only way to know what number it is will be to crack open that seal. In my case, I carefully cut the cellophane on the bottom so the lid still looks like it is "shrinkwrapped" even though the box is open. But that likely won't last forever.

As far as lighting, I understand that the lighting kit for this thing is just plug and play.
So, not real lighting skills needed. In theory that is!!!

Keep us posted on your build as some of us (non number caring types) are really drooling over your build.

OK, about face! Change of plans. While I was working on the lower saucer I noticed the nav beacons were white on the model but the parts were clear. So I just hit them with some gloss white paint. Once I glued them in, I really liked how they looked and realized if I hit all the opaque white window parts with gloss white spray, I could get them to really stand out better. So I popped off the bridge and replaces the black windows for these new ones and did the entire lower saucer as well. They look so much better, they really pop out now as opposed to looking kind of lost against the grey hull in the opaque white they come in. So that's how I will do the neck dorsal and secondary hull as well. Relly pleased with how they look.
 
How was working the saucer seam along the edge? Did you pre-paint the halves and then go back and do touch ups?

Hey Jason, I tried this morning putting the two saucer sections together. They fit well but I only had 2 clamps to hold it tight and where it wasn't clamped down it wasn't sealing very tight. So I took them apart and went and bought 3 more clamps as well as some stronger epoxy resin. I'll let you know and take pics of the result!
 
I think on pretty much EVERY Trek model kit I have ever built with a saucer section they have always had gaps to fill no matter how hard I try :lol
 
Your work looks great. I like the adaptations you're making. I haven't started on mine yet. Interesting thing, I had that cutaway enterprise and I placed the bridge at the proper offset angle and it was done with the dome where you could see the very detailed stations, etc. and it looked great. The problem was that it really started bugging me that the crew wasn't facing forward, I couldn't stand it. So I sold that model. This time, my crew will fly facing forward!
