I have a question about using miliput.I´ve found an old helmet in my stack.I wanna update it with some milliput sculpted parts to make it more accurate. The problem is..the helmet is painted with acrylic spraypaint. Is it possible to sculpt on the painted helmet with milliput?Or is the only way to remove all the colour first? And is it possible to spray direct on milliput with acrylic paint or must I prime the milliputareas first?

The problem with sculpting right onto the acrylic paint is that the extra parts won't actually be stuck to the helmet, just the paint - so not very secure. Best to remove a little bit of paint wherever you are adding the milliput so it can actually stick to the helmet itself.

You can use acrylic paint straight onto milliput if you choose to cut out the primer layer.

Thanks for the fast answer. The parts are very small and having very little weight. So I think the paint could hold them in shape.

Milliput has strong adhesive properties. You should be good to go just by roughening up the areas with wet & dry.

Paint should stick to Milliput okay without priming, but I wouldn't advise it. The primer will show up any flaws in the Milliput sculpt.
