Question about Blanking Cap from the Episode I Sabers

Hi all,

Here's a quick question--what is more accurate on the Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon EPI sabers regarding the blanking caps: a thick stem or a thin one? I'm curious because the MR Obi TPM sabers have a threaded portion, with a thicker area above, as in these pictures:

However--unless I'm losing my mind, I'm pretty sure the old Romans Empire red button replicas did not have this, which is why the Anakin Starkiller Obi TPM replicas from a few years ago all seem to have the blanking caps screwed in flush with the saber--though correct me if I'm wrong. It's difficult to tell what was on the original prop with the low-res pics that I have access to, so I was wondering if someone more knowledgeable could enlighten me on this matter. Thank you!

Hi Sym-Cha, thanks for the response. I have seen the pics over at lonepigeon's site--even with those I'm having a hard time being able to tell if the original blanking caps had a thick stem like the MR replicas or were threaded all the way to the knob. I'm sure lonepigeon would know, since I believe I read somewhere a while back that he had an original one... I'm actually fairly certain that the original blanking caps did not have a thick stem, but I'm confused as to why the MR version would have it. Is it simply a blatant inaccuracy? I know this is such a minor thing that most people probably don't care, but let's just say I have an unhealthy obsession with detail... The research is what makes the hobby for me, I guess. Thanks for the input!

The thick step is correct. MR copied one of my originals.
The threaded part is too thin on the MR though (an internal detail changed for construction). On the real caps the threaded part is as thick as the upper stem.

Here's an old pic of one of my originals...

It's smooth under the o-ring. My caps are packed away in a box right now so no new pics.

Oh wow--thanks lonepigeon! That answers my question perfectly. Now was there ever a run of these that were replicated with the correct thick stem? Call me crazy, but I thought the old Romans Empire caps had a thinner one.
