Re: quakevirus's Iron Man Mark V with pics 07/10/10 (WIP portion is done)

There ya go! that will look great! I have an idea though, hold on ill photoshop what Im thinking.
actually, Ill jsut try to explain it, what if instead of trimming the length of the track piece, just trim the top in a circular shape so that the piece is under your arm, that would also cover up[ more area and have pretty much the same look youre going for.

too late. already cut the tracks shorter. :confused

Re: quakevirus's Iron Man Mark V with pics 07/10/10 (WIP portion is done)

on the part under neither the arms, i already cut out U shapes and im about to glue them to the main piece to give it that stacked look like you photoshopped. ;)

hmm, what kind of glue are you using? I know silicone window sealant glue would work if the stuff you have doesnt work. Ive used it on tons of stuff before. Its the clear stuff in a tube that feels like fake boobs btw. lol

Re: quakevirus's Iron Man Mark V with pics 07/10/10 (WIP portion is done)

Im using this stuff from the walmart craft section called E-6000, good stuff it is. when it drys its super flexable and stretchy. i have use silicone sealant in the past.:lol

why is your thread dying? I mean right when it's getting good, people stop posting. I dont get it, guess it shows who the hardcore iron men are!

i addressed the arm pit area yesterday and just got around to taking pics of it. just trimmed some of the mystery foam out, glued and then stacked it. heres what it got. also started the pep of Robo's IM glove file, just resined the fingers, once they harden ill post some pics up.

pepped he fingers for the gloves, lastnight. got em resined today. decided not to put fiberglass on the inside of the peices. i ended up brushing a layer on and after that dipping the pieces in resin. these things are like little rocks!

here some pics, i put on a latex glove to spray them.(yes the pinky looks crooked, wasnt placed well on the latex gloves)

that gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling seeing those little guys all resined and painted up

i reckon if you put a thin layer of foam or something on the inside they'll be as snug as a bug....then some wire for hinging

Re: quakevirus's Iron Man Mark V with pics 07/10/10 (WIP portion is done.. well kinda

lookin good. but I wonder what did you do for the 15-20 minutes the paint was wet? :lol

very cool quake :)

thanks stealth!:) im trying to figure out how im going to attach them to the gloves. i was thinking maybe gluing them with E-6000. come to think of that i need to figure out what gloves im going to use aswell. lol

Thanks again for the PDO's!! as i put them together, i test fitted them as i went and i had some room for gloves to go under them. after i resined and sanded them there wasnt as much space. no way complaining about these wicked cool finger armor files. my advice for anyone putting them together, would be take into account the thinkness of the resin and or padding, if one was planning on putting it there, when scaling the pdo for your hand. on hinging i was thinking something like a guitar string. i think thats what they used in the making of video. also i had a blast with them today!..no pun intended:)

thanks man! i ran around playing iron man, what else??:lol

kids are down for a couple weeks so the updates will be bit sparatic. anywho, ok so instead of using guitar string for hinges on the finger plating i decided to use elastic string, so that it has some give in it. last thing i need is a hinge to bust when i make a fist. consider this a V1.0, im thinking of a way that i can still use the elastic hinges but hide the actual string better for some sorta 2.0 hinge system. anywho this will work for meow.:)

here a pic of them together on my rig i made to paint them.

You know...My idea requires no hinge system :lol just get some cheapo walmart cotton gloves and hotglue the inside of each piece and while its still hot, slide it on your finger. That will bond it to the glove then it will turn it into a one piece glove. Its that simple :)
Running around playing Iron man :lol PEW PEW PEW!!!

i thought of hot glueing them to gloves. but i wanted to wait till i get the zentai suit in so that i can do it to those. but then i was thinking that, hot glue and the material that the suit is made out of might not work. idk. lol pew pew pew!

Re: quakevirus's Iron Man Mark V with pics 06/10/10 (WIP portion is done.. well kinda

nah, it will work with pretty much any fabric but hey, its your suit! :) btw, heres another pic you can use for reference: http://www.toyark.com/news/attach/1/9/9/9/Hyper-Hobby-Iron-Man-Mark-V_1275409167.jpg

Ive been looking very closely and I think some parts of the helmet might be different on each side. for example: panel lines on one side that arent on the other. hmm IDK, wish there was better pics.

for the cost youd think that they would finish the ab detailing in the model! awsome toy, just looks a lil unfinished. thanks for the ref pics!:thumbsup i need to work on the gloves a bit more, well atleast finish all the pieces that i need to assemble.
