QMX New Releases: Trek, Stargate, DW, WH13 PICS PG.2

And seriously, you guys are jumping out on a limb thinking they went to Taiwan for those when the real ones are made here.

Who said they went to Taiwan? You said there was no other knobs that looked like that I simply pointed out one example to prove that you are incorrect in that statement just like you were in regards to Copyright claims...

I never said it was the one used, I never said the Davies knobs wasn't used I simply don't know as I didn't source the original parts... The fact that they used a vintage push button leads me to believe they were scavenged surplus or used parts from unknown origins... Heck for all I know they might have been resin cast copies on the originals, seems just as likely as them finding a stash of brown knobs and trimming them down to fit or trimming them down and painting black ones... There are also many vintage radio enthusiast out there making reproduction bakelite knobs, might one of these reproductions been used or found in a surplus bin?

i have to say i'm disappointed in this prop. By now I myself expect these things to "work". Maybe some lights, switches that switch and sounds.

Sorry i thought that was a Tai site. I just noticed the real Davis 1900 also doesn't have the flutes to the bottom. They also fade. Needless to say the 1900 is too tall. I understand your point. I guess they could be some other knock off or something painted but we all know what painted knobs look like after a few knocks and those look more like real bakelite. Yes its possible they are not Davies but until someone shows me a better substitute i think you guys are pulling straws. It's possible they widdled it out of a block of wood but how likely is it?

They also show on their website a season 2 version farnsworth sfx, but when you click on the link it does nothing. Anybody have any insight between the differences between the two? Maybe the season 2 version has all the bells and whistles hence the "sfx" label..:confused

Well I just ordered one, we'll see if I can hack it or not :lol. Any advice would be appreciated too! Definitely need to make it light up at the very least!

Their shipping department is definitely on the ball...

Ordered 10:01am on Monday and it arrives on my doorstep by noon today...

Got my Farnsworth on Tuesday too. Sure it would be nice if it had lights and sound, but it's still pretty cool.

What material is the view screen made out of?

Are there any small rivets on the outside of the case (front or back)?

Is the black push button actually a casting?

Is the Farnsworth logo etched into the metal or just a transfer?

thanks!

Formed plastic...

Just the one attachment screw on the back like the original, and the four ornamental small rivets up front around the display... And of course the factory rivets that hold the case together...

Is the black push button actually a casting?

Center knob and button are first generation replica castings from the original... As per the Qmx description...

Farnsworth Season One Artisan Replica: The Warehouse is calling!

Is the Farnsworth logo etched into the metal or just a transfer?

Etched...

Yes its possible they are not Davies but until someone shows me a better substitute i think you guys are pulling straws.

One indication beyond the brown color, and lack of skirt that it's not the Davies knob is the Qmx casting shows zero indication of a set screw hole ever existing, now the prop guys certainly could have done an immaculate clean up job in filling the hole but then again, why would they bother?

Got mine today, can post pics later on.

Unfortunately there was a small scratch on the viewing lens, and paint was coming off the hinges, so I will be returning this one :unsure

On the bright side, the command badge and firefly stickers I got are stellar!
