QMX New Releases: Trek, Stargate, DW, WH13 PICS PG.2

Re: QMX New Releases, Trek, Working Zat, Doctor Who and More!

Did you check the Phaser out? Does it look like the nozzle could be made to swivel or at the very least, turned around so it would have the kill setting engaged?

I asked about this. They said it was a static prop and will be as shown. They did mention that the expect the Hero version to be finished soon and the price they told me wasn't too much over the stunt. Guy at the booth got me not to quote him on it tho...

Is there any word on what the price for the Zat will be? Any hopes that it will be within the 1000s range?

I am hoping it will be below $1000 and not any more.
If this was an original than it would we over that price.
Let's hope it wil be within a reasonable price as a lot of fans want one.
Any word if ther has been a price anounced and avalibility?
As I am unabe to go to Comic Con to get one there and live in Florida I would want to whow if thay will be Available on the QMX website, or how I can special order one from Comic Con?

Thanks

I've visited serveral times with Karl Derrick from the UK at the QMx booth about the Sonics. He's the guy that has developed them and the farnsworth.

Plans for this are really open to fan input, which is a nice thing about QMx I think.

While initially saying no sound, they have heard and read the feedback and say though a challenge due to limited room inside, they will do sound. Vibration if any will be a by product of that.

They are shooting for a $200 price point on this and the Matt Smith piece they will be showing at Dragoncon.

I was also told to expect River Songs Library Sonic and the Masters Laser Sonic.

QMx are gods. I don't know about everybody else, but if the only way to get sound into the sonic is to make it a tiny bit longer than the original prop, I think it's totally worth the trade off.

Can't wait to see their other sonics as well.

Luckily, we know for a fact that that isn't the only way to get sound ;-)

It looks like you are using the correct (not plastikote) paint. How is that going to be durable enough for a commercial piece? MFX went with the non screen accurate Plastikote (not talking colour here but paints) because of this issue.

Incidently, this is why we know CT had access to the real prop and details, because he has hinted and knows the manufacturer of the screen used crackle paint along time ago, and no one else did. Visually it's very obviously not Plastikote and I'm surprised none of you mentioned that before (although even the colour issue escaped our attention somehow).

I agree it's not heritage gold, but the plastikote has always looked perfectly accurate to me. I've never found any other crackle paint that doesn't create a very heavy texture on the piece.

Take a look at the crackle effect on all of the screen used and even the QMX sonic pics, and then compare them to the MFX version. Then you'll have one of those epiphany moments.

I'm not saying the QMx doesn't look right, but I'm not having that epiphany moment. Are we talking about the difference in gloss? I've gotten the crackles in the plastikote that small lots of times.

Look at the cracks themselves. The prop and QMX version has actual cracks in the paint. The MFX and earlier CT versions even, have tears, not cracks.

So did anyone ask the QMx guy why they chose that particular colour for their version of the Sonic? Did they have access to the original prop or just the drawings? By the way, where is the original TV prop? Who has it I wonder?

Karl told me he had the actual prop to make measurements from and that they were replicated down to .02mm of the original.

Philip. Are you posting to the RPF from the Comic-Con floor, in that little room you're hiding in?

Bravo man, internet access in that Convention Center is $$$$$$.

Thanks
