QMX New Releases: Trek, Stargate, DW, WH13 PICS PG.2

Yes, it is, slightly. And now CT's horde will descend on this thread and crucify everybody who says something nice about the QMx. Look, I can predict the future, what a spectacle.

I'm a CT customer and I've descended on this thread saying nice things about the QMx. Should I crucify myself?

Hm, good question. It seems to me you still have free will, or else you wouldn't have asked, so no, I don't think you need to. Is there a nagging urge to do so in the back of your head?

I've ordered a CT Tennant, but I hope to be able to pick up an Eccleston, QMX (Depending on price point) and an MFX (Just to complete the collection), when the market crash for it occurs when the QMX is released (Again, depending on price point).

That being said, all of them (bar the MFX) look spot in terms of accuracy in terms of which prop they were trying to replicate/what they were trying to achieve.

Now that's silly! It was only about the inaccurate MFX Sonic.

I think you'll find that the CT crowd are different from the MFX brigade. The MFX buyers slowly had nagging doubts that there were being sold a line with the 'accurate' of their sonic & didn't like it being pointed out then went all out to defend it so not to look like that had been 'had', where CT has been honest with his customers from the word go. The criticism was with MFX. If QMx do everything they say they would why anyone complain? Its gonna be a pill to swallow for MFX purchasers when they compare the QMx sonic against if there are glaring differences between the two props.

I have to say the QMx is truly a beautiful looking prop, ,and this is what MFX should have offered their customers in the first place. If they had there wouldn't have been any MFX/CT debate. I really hope things don't change between this prototype and the replicas that finally roll off the production line. After all we have seen this happen before! It would be great if QMx fit sound for it seems that this is what everyone who can't bring themselves to purchase a CT sonic really wants. It certainly would make a great addition to peoples collection. For me I have made my choice. A Sonic that has sound from a dealer that has put a lot of hard work, detail & attention into his project & someone I trust due to his excellent customer care. Its CT all the way for me & I shall not hesitate in buying his River Sonic when that finally comes out.

I feel this is another kick in the nuts to MFX owners. Not only have the nagging doubts due to accuracy snowballed and snowballed over time, and then exploded in a big flowery heritage gold mushroom cloud. We now have another BBC licenced piece being released with the correct looking paint and dimensions which has confirmed that the MFX piece is innaccurate. The BBC might as well have made a public statement announcing that CT was right all along.

I hope that QMx listen to the fans and make the end product fit the prototype, but we've all seen it before with licenced peices never living up to the hype. This site is full of examples.

I have talked to the designer of the QMX piece and he is a die hard fan of the prop itself, and have gone over the screen used piece, and the MFX sonic, he knows what he's talking about when it comes to accuracy and wants a piece that is true to the original, he also said that there are very minor, one or two things they need to tweek, but other than that the final piece will be just like the proto shown, I seriously can't wait!

Philip. Are you posting to the RPF from the Comic-Con floor, in that little room you're hiding in?

Bravo man, internet access in that Convention Center is $$$$$$.

Thanks

Yup, little room, lots of computers and cameras and my verizon mifi cell access point.

Again, can someone ask QMX why the StarFleet Acadamy Ring looks so off?
For comparison...

The QMX ring.

And an actual ring from the film with my ring below it.

What the hell? The QMX ring is reallllly inaccurate looking, it only comes in one size, and it's made of brass plated with silver (making resising it a problem as it'll look like crap aftrwards)!!!!

Now, my ring may not be perfect, but it gets a damn sight closer to screen used than the crap QMX is selling!

Why can't replica companies who claim to have access to the original screen used props ever get things to look right! Or even make small props like rings in an actual wearable metal? Brass plated with silver with rodium over that (for added luster??). At most it will be a crappy product, and one that most people won't be able to wear without coating the inside of the ring with a clear nail pollish to keep their fingers from turning green. Just like when Master Replicas made so called replicas of Jack Sparrows rings from Pirates. Same sort of crap here.

Thanks for nothing QMX!

Not taking sides, but I can see inaccuracies in both of those rings. Not the same ones, but neither one looks EXACTLY like the middle picture.

True, and as I said, mine's not perfect . It just looks more the part than the QMX ring. The over long lower point on the largest star, the fact that the "dots" closest to the large stars seem to touch them, and the realy close five lines on the sides of the ring, not to mention that the QMX ring is almost perfectly round when both the screen used ring and mine are more of an oval. Add to all of that the fact that the QMX ring is one size, then add to that it's silver plated brass to boot, and you end up with one realy halfassed product.

I know Trekkies who were waiting for this ring and were hoping for a nice, accurate, wearable product. This isn't it.
