Q: Sites with tutorial on weathering white armor?

I'm considering painting up my clone trooper armor and helmet into the shock trooper paint scheme. Any chance there are some good sites on weathering tips? I'm comfortable at building up sabers, pulling together gaffi sticks, but not sure I have the confidence on weathering up trooper armor. Any help would be appreciated.

Yep, other colors work great and look just as well too. Obviously you'd want something less orangey and tan for your clone weathering...depending on which planet you were stationed....

here's my Shocker bucket (before I sold it)
if you are looking to make it look similar, I can tell ya how
It's really easy.

The weathering is really pretty simple
I do a light application of the brown first, then black after it dries thoroughly.
The brown ( "Burnt Umber" ) is Cheap Wal-mart acrylic craft paint ( yeah, the little bottles in the crafting section) & Windshield washer fluid (yeah, like you put in your car)

mix it together (mostly paint) , apply it with a small paintbrush, wipe it off where you think it's too dark with a soft cloth.
I apply heavier paint in the areas where I think the dirt would accumulate (i.e. cracks & crevices) and lighten as you move away from those heavier areas.

work in smaller areas so the paint stays wet
make sure to start wiping before it dries & kinda dab cloth around to avoid streaking
The black is pretty much the same as the brown, except a little more washer fluid
it's more of a wash, but not quite that watery

I would post some pics, but my Computer crashed recently & I lost the pics.
& just about everything else :cry

yeah,
It was quite a drag
we got a virus somehow & it started corrupting everything
then we lost internet access & the computer didn't recognize ANY msn programs
we ended up buying a new hard drive twice as fast as the old one (the only plus)
but I lost all the pics & stuff

Great tips. Thanks for sharing.

How do you do the scratches in the paint (such as the scratches in the red on the Shock trooper helmet)? Do you paint the scratch on over the red paint? Or do you mask it off and peel after applying the red paint?

after I paint the red...
I scratch the helmet with an x-zacto knife. :p

I figure if I want the scratches to look real, why not just make them real.
It's not like a Fett bucket where you need to match the damage scratch for scratch.
