PVC Mannequin for Jawa costume

Wanted to share my latest project. I made a Jawa costume for my daughter for halloween. I really liked the way it came out. So decided I wanted to showcase it in my office, vs. store it in my closet. I started googling kid sized mannequins, bit didn't see any that I liked. I ended up opting to build my own, since my Jawa costume was garage built, why not make the mannequin as well. Decided to share a few pics. Thought it may help a few out there who are thinking of doing the same.

So the whole build is with 2" pvc pipes and pieces. The only parts that are not, are for the forearms. I tapered them down to 1 1/2" to allow the arm gloves to slide on easier. To stand it up, I drilled it into some spare 2x6 pieces I had laying around. I went with one knee bent look to give the legs more life like feel to it. I bought all the pvc pipes from Lowes.

For the hands I cut up some scrap plexiglass, using the sole of a my daughters shoe. No real reason, just seemed to make sense. I drilled 2 holes in it and inserted bent pieces of #12 commercial electrical wire to use as fingers. Then I used black electrical tape to thicken them up a bit and help hold them in place. (FYI< it works really well. I can position the fingers. It helps the mannequin to look good)

I drilled slots into the wrists on the pvc and inserted the plexiglass. Worked out really well. After that I painted the whole thing black. The base plates I painted almond to giver it more a sand looking feel to it. Once I create the foundation plate it will sit on, it will help with the look.

For the back of the head, I used the back plate piece from a cheap force awakens stormtrooper mask I bought from the disney store. I bought it for the speaker and voice change mic. I was hoping to integrate it into my ANH stormtrooper mask. Hasn't worked out so well. That's another story/project.

I then used an old sheet that I taped and rolled up around the body to give the jawa a little bit of body. Anyway, here is the Jawa on the mannequin. Hope you like it. I built this costume. Down to the blaster. I still need to fix it up so that it looks like he is standing on the Tatooine desert. More images coming later.
